10 Times WWE Gave The Fans Exactly What They Wanted In The 2010s

WWE is often criticized for not giving fans what they want; whether it's by refusing to push a certain superstar or not putting the title on a popular name. This can become very frustrating, as it can derail a wrestler's momentum which would ruin their chances of becoming a big star.

However, they've been plenty of cases in the last decade where the company actually listened to its fans and gave the audience what they wanted, which turned out to be a very special moment. A lot of it was expected, but it still brought smiles to many faces and forever changed the careers of the performers involved. When WWE gets it right, they really get it right, and it makes the product much more enjoyable.

10 KofiMania

Kofi Mania

Kofi Kingston spent the majority of his WWE career in the mid-card as a singles and tag team competitor. While he held many titles including the Intercontinental, United States, and Tag Team Championship, it didn't seem like he'd ever win the big one. Without the tremendous support from the WWE Universe, he would've never become a world champion.

In 2019, Kingston began feuding with Daniel Bryan for the coveted title, which gave birth to #KofiMania and led to the former becoming the biggest babyface on SmackDown at the time. Fans were demanding the company to crown Kofi Kingston as the new WWE Champion when WrestleMania 35 rolled around, and Vince McMahon gave the fans what they wanted. Kofi defeated Bryan to win the title, and he went on to hold it for 180 days before dropping it to Brock Lesnar.

9 WWE Women's Tag Team Championships

The women's division has drastically evolved to a point where female superstars can main event PPVs and compete in stipulation-based bouts such as Hell in a Cell and No Holds Barred. WWE's roster consists of actual performers such as Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, and Bayley as opposed to some of the "divas" from back in the days who couldn't tell a wristlock from a wristwatch.

The women's division was also growing, so it made sense to add a secondary women's championship to the mix. As a result, the WWE Universe began asking for the return of the Women's Tag Team Championships. WWE did just that, with Banks and Bayley becoming the inaugural champions.

8 Daniel Bryan As WWE Champion

Daniel Bryan was loved by many people who appreciated him for his big heart and wrestling ability despite his look and size. He wasn't 6'5" and didn't weigh 250 pounds like Randy Orton, but he was still over with the crowd and he had what it took to become a world champion. WWE, however, didn't feel he had what it took to be their top guy. They put the title on him twice only to immediately take it away. First, at SummerSlam 2013, Orton cashed in on Bryan right after he defeated John Cena for the WWE Title and, at the following PPV event, Bryan would defeat Orton for the gold but would have to vacate the title the very next night.

Fans, however, refused to stand back and watch Bryan getting denied of something he deserved, so the Yes! Movement was formed and it forced WWE to take Daniel Bryan seriously. The company decided to add him to the main event of WrestleMania XXX which was originally set to be contested between Orton and Batista for the prestigious title. Bryan ended up winning the match and the belt, and his reign lasted longer than 24 hours. But he'd have to vacate the title three months later due to a neck injury.

7 CM Punk Wins The WWE Championship At Money In The Bank 2011

CM Punk Money In The Bank 2011

CM Punk's feud with John Cena in 2011 was very memorable. Their match at that year's WWE Money in the Bank PPV had very high stakes, and it delivered. Since Punk was in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois, the crowd was pulling for him to win the bout.

They probably would've rioted if he lost the match to John Cena. Despite Mr. McMhaon's attempts to cost The Straight Edge Superstar the match, the latter came out victorious and celebrated his win with the crowd. The fans wanted CM Punk to win, and they got exactly what they wanted.

6 Daniel Bryan Gets Cleared To Compete

Daniel Bryan announced his retirement from in-ring competition in 2016 when the fans were not ready to bid goodbye to a star that they genuinely loved. While he still made appearances on TV as the SmackDown General Manager, he was still missed in the ring.

The WWE Universe wanted to see him wrestle, and the feeling was mutual. In 2018, WWE rewarded the fans with the biggest gift possible when they cleared Bryan to compete. He made his return to in-ring action at WrestleMania 34 where he teamed up with Shane McMahon to take on the team of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens in a tag team match. The fans were thrilled to have Daniel Bryan back.

5 The Shield's Reunion

The Shield argue in the ring

The Hounds of Justice, also known as The Shield, was one of the most dominant trios in pro wrestling history. After the stable dissolved, all three members; Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose all flourished on their own as singles competitors.

However, many fans were still hoping for a Shield reunion, as the three men were unstoppable when they joined forces. They had their first match back together at TLC 2017 where they defeated The Miz and four other wrestlers in a 5-on-3 handicap match. Roman Reigns, however, was unable to compete, and he was replaced by Kurt Angle. Still, they were beloved by fans and their reunion was overwhelming.

Becky Lynch became over as hell in late 2018 and began referring to herself as 'The Man'. Surprisingly, this became a big hit, and Lynch's career launched straight to the moon. Although she was set to battle Asuka for the SmackDown Women's Championship at the Royal Rumble PPV, many fans wanted her to take part in and win the women's Rumble match.

She was defeated by Asuka, but she went on to replace Lana in the Rumble, which was what the fans wanted to see. Lynch finally eliminated her former best friend Charlotte Flair to win the bout, and the entire arena became unglued. The right person won, and everyone was happy.

3 Kevin Owens As World Champion

When Kevin Owens arrived on the main roster, he was already involved in a big feud, with none other than John Cena. Owens was a good worker, he had very good mic skills and he was great as a heel. So it wasn't surprising that many fans wanted WWE to put the world title on him. Eight days after SummerSlam 2016, WWE finally decided to pull the trigger on KO.

After Finn Balor was stripped of the Universal Championship, Owens won the title in a multi-man match, becoming only the second person in history to hold the belt. Although he was a heel, many people congratulated Owens on his big win as it was a very deserving moment for him.

2 The Authority Are Removed From Power

The Authority was a heelish faction comprised of WWE COO Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, Seth Rollins, Kane, and J&J Security. When the group failed to defeat Team Cena in the traditional 5-on-5 elimination tag team match at Survivor Series 2014, they were removed from power to the delight of fans.

The WWE Universe became very annoyed with the way The Authority was running the company, so their removal was a welcomed sight. It didn't last forever though, as John Cena brought them back a couple of weeks later.

"The 9th Wonder of the World" Chyna is one of the most successful female wrestlers in WWE history. Not only did she compete against the men, but she also held the Intercontinental Championship. She was a part of D-Generation X during the Attitude Era and was the first woman to enter the Royal Rumble match.

She tragically passed away in 2016 due to an accidental drug overdose. For many years, people have been calling for WWE to induct her into the Hall of Fame, and in 2019, it finally happened. While she was inducted as part of DX and not on her own, it was still a welcomed decision by the wrestling community.
