10 WWE New Generation Era Match Stipulations Fans Forgot About
The New Generation Era featured WWE branching out with new experiments, from the talents they pushed to the storylines they tried to tell. Quite a few match stipulations were rare at the time when WWE started to find new ways to change up the matches. The hope was the product would feel fresh after the Golden Era grew stale.

Everyone remembers the bigger stipulations like Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon in the first ladder match or Bret Hart vs Michaels in the first Iron Man match. However, there were plenty of overlooked stipulations elsewhere that flew under the radar. The following matches from the New Generation Era had stipulations that the average fan forgets.
10 Goldust Vs The Undertaker (Casket Match)
WWE placed The Undertaker and Goldust in a short-term feud that was meant to warrant a stipulation match. In Your House: Beware of Dog was a wild event that took place over two broadcasts since there was an issue with WWE losing power in the venue on the first try.

Goldust and Undertaker had their overlooked casket match take place in the second chapter of that PPV. Mankind hiding in the casket and attacking Undertaker afterward allowed Goldust to take advantage of it for a rare win over Undertaker.
9 Bret Hart Vs Jerry Lawler (Kiss My Foot Match)
One of the strangest match stipulations of the New Generation Era featured Bret Hart and Jerry Lawler trying to humiliate each other. WWE booked the two in a long feud that saw Lawler making it quite personal by verbally attacking the Hart family.
Lawler came up with the bizarre Kiss My Foot match stipulation for them to blow off the feud and intentionally made his feet gross for weeks to make Bret pay. However, it was Hart winning and having Lawler kiss both his foot and Lawler’s gross foot to make him pay.
8 Triple H Vs Henry Godwin (Hog Pen Match)
Triple H was not always slated to be a top-tier superstar and had to overcome some bad ideas to outlast the tougher times in the New Generation Era. The original arrogant rich heel persona saw Triple H feuding with the pig farmer Henry Godwinn for a few months.
WWE came up with the ridiculous Hog Pen match of both wrestlers competing inside an actual pig pen.
In Your House: Season’s Beatings was the stage for Godwinn scoring the win in an embarrassing match. Triple H revealed he had fun in the stipulation match, but he was warned about the pigs biting his fingers if too close.
7 Savio Vega Vs Steve Austin (Caribbean Strap Match)
Steve Austin needed some time before he found his footing in WWE to create the Stone Cold gimmick. The rivalry between Austin and Savio Vega was the first time he started to stand out before moving forward with his ideal gimmick.
WWE placed them in a Caribbean Strap Match at In Your House: Beware of Dog 2. There was another stipulation of Ted DiBiase having to leave WWE after Savio won the match. Austin ended up benefiting in the long term since this gave him more promo time.
6 Bret Hart Vs Isaac Yankem (Cage Match)
The WWE career of Kane could have easily been a failure if not getting the Kane gimmick as The Undertaker’s brother. Glen Jacobs had to play the horrible gimmicks of Fake Diesel and Isaac Yankem before getting the ideal character.

Yankem was the evil dentist of Jerry Lawler looking to do his bidding against Bret Hart. WWE booked a big Steel Cage match between the two on Raw to pay off that chapter of the story. Bret carried a young Kane to one of his better matches with the dentist gimmick with Lawler also hanging in the air to avoid interference.
5 Razor Ramon Vs 123 Kid (Crybaby Match)
The debut of 123 Kid as an underdog fan favorite upsetting the arrogant heel Razor Ramon saw the dynamic changing in the later stages of their feud. Razor became one of the most over faces and a friend of the 123 Kid on-screen for months.
A heel turn for 123 Kid led to him joining the Million Dollar Corporation by betraying Ramon. WWE booked a Crybaby match between the two at In Your House: Rage in the Cage. Razor won the match and embarrassed 123 Kid by putting him in a diaper and placing other baby accessories on him.
4 British Bulldog Vs Ken Shamrock (Dog Food Match)
WWE came up with big matches for the main Hart Foundation members to carry the SummerSlam 1997 event. The British Bulldog and Ken Shamrock had a personal rivalry playing out that saw them wanting more at stake than the European Championship.
An extra stipulation saw Bulldog having to eat dog food if Shamrock won the match. WWE went with a cop-out finish of Davey Boy Smith winning by DQ to retain the title and avoid eating dog food. Shamrock still got the better of Bulldog in their brawl to come out looking strong in defeat without getting pinned.
3 The Undertaker Vs The Executioner (Armageddon Rules Match)
WWE introduced The Executioner gimmick played by Terry Gordy when Paul Bearer turned heel on The Undertaker and had some backup along with Mankind. In Your House: It’s Time featured Undertaker facing Executioner in an Armageddon Rules match.
This was the only time that this name was used by WWE as the Last Man Standing match stipulation. Undertaker won a match that saw Executioner unable to get up after a ten count. Unfortunately, fans didn’t view the short-lived Executioner gimmick as a credible threat to Undertaker.
2 Bret Hart & British Bulldog Vs The Patriot & Vader (Flag Match)
In Your House: Badd Blood saw Bret Hart taking part in a rare PPV tag match during his time as WWE Champion. The tandem of Bret and The British Bulldog faced off against the babyface duo of Vader and The Patriot in a flag match.
American fans loathed the Hart Foundation for their claims of Canada being superior to the United States. The flag match was won by Bret and Davey Boy Smith when grabbing the Canadian flag and waving it in pride to the anger of the audience.
1 Diesel Vs Sycho Sid (Lumberjack Match)
Most fans remember the rivalry between Kevin Nash and Sycho Sid for their WCW days for the foolish moments between the two, but it started in WWE. In Your House 2 saw their biggest match taking place with the Lumberjack match stipulation.
Sid attempting to win the WWE Championship saw the rest of the roster surrounding the ring. Nash doing a shocking dive over the top rope was the most memorable part of the match. The win for Diesel continued his title reign after a huge victory over the next most intimidating big man.
