10 WWE Wrestlers That Would Fit Perfectly Today
From 1991 to 1992, Paul Heyman — known back then as Paul E. Dangerously — had an awesome, memorable faction going on in WCW in the form of The Dangerous Alliance. Following in the footsteps of the Four Horsemen, The Dangerous Alliance boasted some of the best performers in the company at the time, both on the microphone and in the ring, including Rick Rude, Arn Anderson, Steve Austin, and others.

These days, Paul Heyman is in WWE, where he’s the manager of the Bloodline faction. However, if he wanted to put together a revival of the Dangerous Alliance, who would he choose? Let’s take a look at some of WWE’s most likely candidates.
10 Dolph Ziggler
A WWE veteran for over 20 years, Dolph Ziggler is the kind of veteran that would give a modern-day Dangerous Alliance some credibility, just like how guys like Arn Anderson and Larry Zbyszko provided a solid base for the original version. Ziggler would also have a pretty understandable motivation for joining the group: after years of being underrated and undervalued — especially in recent years — the Show-Off has decided to turn on the promotion he’s given so much of his time and effort to.
9 Robert Roode
Dolph’s old tag team partner, Robert Roode — or Bobby Roode — would also be a great fit for the Dangerous Alliance. While Roode’s in-ring style isn’t the flashiest, he’s always been a great, charismatic heel who one could easily slot into a faction like the Dangerous Alliance. What’s especially great is that Roode can fit into most of the roles that any given faction has: tag team specialist, enforcer, mouthpiece, or even the centerpiece wrestler who goes after the World Title.
8 Cody Rhodes
As the son of WCW legend Dusty Rhodes, it only makes sense for Cody Rhodes to be involved with the Dangerous Alliance. It seems like a no-brainer for Rhodes to be their top babyface enemy — especially after his great promo with Paul Heyman in early February 2023 — but he could just as easily be the guy an entire Dangerous Alliance is built around.

And, for fans who know their history, it would also be a low-key betrayal of the Rhodes name, as his brother Dustin fought the Dangerous Alliance during their initial run, including taking part in the classic War Games showdown.
7 Becky Lynch
Of course, the Dangerous Alliance needn’t be limited to men — after all, Medusa was a member of the WCW version. Even considering the overall roster regardless of gender, Becky Lynch can be counted among the most charismatic, talented in-ring workers in WWE. When imagining a Dangerous Alliance that also sought to take over the women’s division, “The Man” is easily the best choice for Heyman to back. On top of that, it seems like a Dangerous Alliance built around Becky Lynch would be a great way to make Charlotte Flair a credible babyface, if needed.
6 R-Truth
A good heel faction could always use a shocking addition to its lineup, with a perennial babyface suddenly going bad against all expectations. Who would have a more shocking heel turn than R-Truth, who’s spent the last decade or so as WWE’s finest comedic goofball. While to WWE fans it may sound like it’s out of left field, Truth was able to play a more serious character in Impact Wrestling to the point that he became a two-time World Champion in the process.
5 Sami Zayn
Given that his role in the Bloodline storyline rocketed him to top babyface status, it’s tough to imagine Sami Zayn becoming part of another dominant heel faction represented by Paul Heyman — at least, not in the same way. But Heyman is nothing if not a master manipulator, so it’s totally conceivable that Paul could convince Sami that things would be different this time. Of course, Zayn’s membership in the Alliance would have to beg the question: is he really in the group, or does Heyman have yet another master plan?
4 LA Knight
At this point, WWE fans have only gotten a small taste of what LA Knight is capable of. Fans who know him from his days as Eli Drake, however, know Knight as a charismatic promo and a solid in-ring performer — the kind that would be a boon to a group like the Dangerous Alliance.

A cocky, overconfident heel, LA Knight could easily slot into the Rick Rude role and hold on to a belt like the United States Championship until the right babyface comes along to put on a classic with him.
3 Tommaso Ciampa
A group called the Dangerous Alliance should have at least a couple of wrestlers who seem legitimately dangerous, and Tommao Ciampa has proven with much of his WWE career to date that he can be one of the most violent men in the company. Even though he’s proven himself as a main eventer countless times in NXT, Ciampa in a new Dangerous Alliance doesn’t seem like the centerpiece, but rather a mercenary type or a tag team specialist. However, that could change if the group were to turn on him.
2 Santos Escobar
Currently, Santos Escobar is the leader of his own faction, Legado Del Fantasma, and there doesn't appear to be any reason to break up that group. However, if Legado wasn’t a factor, the former Hijo Del Fantasma would be a perfect candidate for a rebooted Dangerous Alliance. Escobar seems to be the Mexican heel that WWE hoped guys like Alberto Del Rio and Andrade would be, the perfect blend of charisma, promo skills, and in-ring acumen, and a Dangerous Alliance built around him would launch Escobar to the top of the company.
1 AJ Styles
These days, AJ Styles has been reliving his Bullet Club days, hanging out with his old BC cronies Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. But what if he got sick of the nostalgia act and wanted to embark on a different direction — under the management of Paul Heyman with the support of a newly formed Dangerous Alliance? Of course, AJ Styles in a Paul Heyman faction has a zero percent chance of happening thanks to the very real-life backstage enmity between the two.
