5 Male Wrestlers Who Are Likely To Win (& 5 Who Have No Chance)

After a one-year break, WWE has confirmed that the King of the Ring tournament is set to return this year. A new wrestler will crown his place on the throne this May at a premium live event in Saudi Arabia, presenting the current crop of wrestlers with an interesting opportunity.

Many former King of the Ring winners have gone on to achieve huge things in the business, with the gimmick being the launching pad for that to happen. With the current roster, there are plenty of stars that would benefit massively from picking up this win, but there are also several that WWE will likely not want to win this one.

10 Likely To Win: Gunther

GUNTHER WWE

Gunther is clearly someone that WWE has high hopes for due to how dominant he has been as the Intercontinental Champion, and seeing him become a main-event player throughout 2023 is expected. If the company wants to continue pushing him, then a King of the Ring victory could help that journey.

Nowadays the King gimmick is a difficult one to play as a true royal, in the same way, people like Booker T did. However, Gunther's current character could work perfectly with it due to him calling himself the Ring General, which could be perfect with this situation.

9 Has No Chance: Dominik Mysterio

Dominik Mysterio

Dominik Mysterio has been putting in some great work as of late, but it has been as an over-the-top character that is almost comedic, rather than as a serious in-ring talent. There's certainly room on the card for someone like him, and the reactions he is getting prove that.

However, because he isn't taken seriously as a wrestler at the moment he would seem like an odd choice to win the King of the Ring, which is typically focused on great workers.

8 Likely To Win: The Miz

Miz WrestleMania Host

The Miz might not be the most technically gifted performer in WWE, but he is someone that always gets reactions from fans and that is often the most important aspect of the industry. There's a reason why he always gets the big opportunities, and the fact he can draw real heat is one of them.

Seeing him win this tournament would guarantee huge boos for him, and that is something that would make this gimmick work perfectly for him. It could be similar to Shane McMahon's Best in the World character, which would open up some big storyline potential.

7 Has No Chance: Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin is a former King of the Ring winner, and he did a decent job when he was given the gimmick as he tried his best to make it feel relevant and important. However, the fact that he has previously worn the crown likely makes it unlikely that WWE would consider him to win it again.

On top of that, Corbin has been booked dreadfully as of late, losing constantly against a variety of talent. He is being positioned as a loser, and while that will eventually turn around, it isn't the right way to build someone to this opportunity.

6 Likely To Win: LA Knight

When LA Knight was placed into his recent feud against Bray Wyatt there weren't many expectations for him, but the charisma he showcased managed to get him over massively. Knight has catchphrases that have gotten over, he has clear charisma, and inside the ring, he is capable of backing it up.

Now he is over with fans it is important that WWE strikes and pushes him as much as they can. The King of the Ring could be a great opportunity for him, as this could work ideally with the persona that he has.

5 Has No Chance: Matt Riddle

Matt Riddle's future in WWE currently has a lot of question marks surrounding it because he has been gone from television for several months. He was suspended by WWE after a wellness violation, but the length of time he has missed is a concern for him moving forward.

While Riddle has enjoyed success in the past, this doesn't seem like the right time for him to be thrown back into the top spot immediately. If he does return, Riddle might end up being brought up slower rather than with a big spot like this.

4 Likely To Win: Solo Sikoa

Solo Sikoa has been a dominant heel from the moment that he arrived on the main roster, and while he's the youngest member of The Bloodline, it is clear that WWE has high hopes for him as a talent. While the rest of his family members have held gold, Sikoa is yet to get that big moment as a main roster star.

That is something that the King of the Ring could provide for him which would be a huge platform for Sikoa. He can easily be a main event star in the future, and if he is given a big victory like this it would certainly make fans see him in a new light.

3 Has No Chance: Xavier Woods

Xavier Woods has always been incredibly passionate about the King of the Ring tournament, and that is what led to him winning it in 2021. WWE rewarded his passion with a victory, but despite his desire to wear the crown his run as the King was fairly forgettable overall.

Having Woods win the tournament again wouldn't be an exciting idea and this is something that most fans don't want to see at the moment. Woods doesn't seem to be someone that WWE wants to push as a singles talent, therefore he likely has no chance of winning this time around.

2 Likely To Win: Montez Ford

The King of the Ring tournament has traditionally been something that WWE has used as a platform to promote fresh names to the main event scene, cherry-picking upcoming talent that has a lot of potential. Right now, Montez Ford ticks that box better than anybody on the WWE roster.

While there are arguments for why The Street Profits shouldn't split up it is clear that Ford is ready to become a major name in the industry. Giving him this win would be a huge opportunity for him that could provide a fresh start for the company in the singles division.

1 Has No Chance: Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt returns at Extreme Rules 2022 Cropped

Bray Wyatt is one of the biggest stars in WWE, but that doesn't mean he will have any chance at winning the King of the Ring tournament. His character simply wouldn't work even being in this tournament, let alone being the man to win the entire thing.

Wyatt is a man of mystery and someone who likes to put a lot of attention to detail in his character and storylines. Popping into a tournament doesn't suit that idea, and it is unlikely he will be involved at all, nor should he be.
