5 Ways John Cena Is The Best Ever (& 5 Ways He's Not)
John Cena is one of the biggest names that WWE has ever seen and someone who has done everything that there is to do in wrestling. Because of that, he is always in the debate about who is the greatest wrestler of all time.

His success in wrestling is certainly undeniable and there is no questioning the fact that he has had a major impact on the industry. But is John Cena the greatest to have ever laced up a pair of boots?
10 Best Ever: His Promo Ability
On the microphone, John Cena really is one of the best ever. Whether he was spitting bars or just talking as normal, Cena would always connect with a crowd and that was something that not even some of the other greats could do.
His promos were always incredibly engaging and that meant that anything that he did was always entertaining to watch, even if the angle itself wasn't that exciting.
9 He's Not: Burying Talents
A great wrestler never needs to put others down to help enhance themselves, but that was sadly something that John Cena did several times during his career. Whether it was Rusev, Nexus, or Zack Ryder, many great wrestlers fell foul to working with Cena.

This was something that didn't build up his reputation, as Cena could have really helped enhance other wrestlers, which would have built them to help the entire industry rather than just himself.
8 Best Ever: Carried WWE During A Tough Period
When people talk about the all-time greats the likes of Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, and The Rock often come up. However, those men all got to be part of a real golden era of wrestling when there were tons of other major draws to help them.
The same cannot be said for John Cena. Large portions of his era were amongst some of the weakest in WWE history, yet he carried the company on his back throughout it all, showcasing his drawing power.
7 He's Not: His Poor Comedy
When John Cena is serious, he is unbelievably good. He captures an audience easily with his fantastic intensity, but on the flip side of that, when he tries to be comedic, it really can be a complete disaster.
Cena's comedic style is far too goofy and over the top to ever be entertaining, and while it hasn't hurt his position within WWE at any point, it has hurt his position in the eyes of the fans at stages.
6 Best Ever: Incredible Rivalries
A real way to test whether or not someone is an all-time great is whether or not they have had a number of memorable rivalries. When it comes to John Cena, that is certainly the case as he has had countless.

Whether it's his epic WrestleMania bouts with The Rock or his consistent encounter against Edge, Cena always brought the best out of his opponents. He told amazing stories in the ring and through his promos leading to some incredible rivalries.
5 He's Not: He Didn't Change
Many of the greatest wrestlers of all time all have one thing in common, which is their ability to change up their character. Shawn Michaels, The Rock, Hulk Hogan, they all made tweaks here and there, playing a heel or being a beloved babyface.
However, John Cena never did that. While he changed from being the Dr. Thuganomics to the PG Cena, that was mainly due to the way the company was going. Cena's character is fairly one dimensional, and that is why he can't be considered the best.
4 Best Ever: Always Gaining A Reaction
The greatest wrestlers are ones who will get a response from the crowd no matter the situation. Whether they are in a terrible storyline that fans don't care about or a red hot angle, they will always have the fans making noise.
That is something that John Cena does better than any other wrestler. Whether the audiences are booing him or cheering him, they are always on their feet and interested, which is why he's so good.
3 He's Not: Forced By WWE
There's no doubt John Cena earned his spot by his own accord, but whether or not he would have had quite as much success without the machine behind him is certainly up for debate.

Other legends such as The Undertaker and Steve Austin really won their spot in the company and with the fans. However, in the eyes of many WWE Universe members, that wasn't the case with Cena, with fans feeling like he was pushed much too soon.
2 Best Ever: World Title Record
One of the big reasons that John Cena can be considered the greatest of all time is his World Title record. He is tied with Ric Flair for holding the most World Titles, and that is pretty good company to be part of.
To hold that many World Titles, you simply have to be one of the best to have ever done it. That is why a case can certainly be made for the leader of the Cenation, as he has the titles to back up the argument.
1 He's Not: His In-Ring Ability
John Cena is by no means as bad in the ring as some wrestling fans are prepared to make out. Some fans will totally bury Cena and his wrestling skills and that is completely unfair, as he is a good wrestler.
However, to be considered the best of all time his in-ring ability really would need to be a little better than it actually was. While he was solid and could work a great match with the right opponent, he wasn't the next Bret Hart.
