Adam Cole Defeats Chris Jericho In Unsanctioned Match At AEW Double Or Nothing

The feud between Chris Jericho and Adam Cole has been one of the best told ones heading into AEW Double or Nothing. That was no surprise, given that Jericho and Cole are two of the best to ever do it. The lead up to their Unsanctioned match has been filled with intrigue. Not only is it the biggest step so far to Adam Cole's returning to wrestling, after being out for so long with a near career ending concussion, but the matchup is the first ever between Cole and Jericho. They haven't been the only parts of this feud, however. The Jericho Appreciation Society is there of course. Adam Cole's real life girlfriend, Britt Baker, put herself into the rivalry early on. We then saw the AEW debut of Cole's Undisputed Era partner, Roderick Strong. Then came last week's Dynamite, when out of nowhere, another debut happened in the form of Sabu, who looked to help even the odds by standing with Cole.

It was Sabu who stood in the ring first with Jericho for tonight's Unsanctioned Match. The extreme legend even jumped off the top rope through a table in an awkward spot. After the chaos of everyone fighting died down, Cole and Jericho stood alone. Shortly thereafter, the action moved to the floor after Jericho suplexed Cole from the ring apron. He controlled the action, throwing Cole into the steps before tossing him back in the ring. His domination of the match ended when Cole reached a fire extinguisher and shot it off in Jericho's face. It allowed Cole to take control and get a near fall, before Jericho fought back, using the fire extinguisher on Cole, then getting a kendo stick.

Britt Baker then came down to the ring with a kendo stick of her own and beat Jericho down with it. Saraya ran out and got the kendo stick as well. Baker then chased her out of the arena. Back in the ring, Cole got a two-count pinfall. The former leader of the Undisputed Elite took a scary fall when Jericho threw a chair in his face, knocking Cole from the top of the ring post and crashing to a table on the floor.

Adam Cole Takes Out Chris Jericho

Jericho reached under the ring for a steel chain and handcuffs. He got one cuff on Adam's wrist, before Cole fought back, sticking him with a Panama sunrise for a two-count. After missing a Judas effect, Jericho choked Cole with the chain. Cole quickly regained control, wrapping the chain around his leg and kicking Jericho in the back of the head, before wrapping it around his fist and beating Jericho in the face. Jericho couldn't defend himself, so referee Aubrey Edwards called for the match to be stopped as the fans booed.

Chris Jericho and Adam Cole gave their all but a flat crowd and an awkward ending didn't help them.
