Application (ERAS) and Interview Process
Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)
The KUSM-W Radiology residency program will accept applications only via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) from the AAMC.
International graduate applications also include an Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) Status Report with regularly updated information about the applicant's certification status. International graduates must be able to be licensed in the State of Kansas and be ECFMG certified. This includes graduation from a medical school that is approved by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts no more than four years prior to starting the residency program. A U.S. Citizenship, permanent visa/work authorization or J-1 Visa is required.
Application Process
The following criteria are required as a minimum for consideration for residency appointment:
- NRMP Universal Application form
- Official Dean's Letter or Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)
- Medical school transcript
- Copy of USMLE scores
- Three letters of recommendation
- Curriculum Vitae and personal statement
There is no deadline for application submission. It is strongly recommended to submit applications as early as possible.

Q. How do I apply to the radiology residency program at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita?
A. You must apply through ERAS, the Electronic Residency Application Service from the Association of American Medical College (AAMC).
Q. When is the application deadline?
A. Priority deadline is October 1, 2022. Interview dates are November 7-11, December 5-9 and January 17-19.
Q. What are the typical interview dates?
A. We have two separate dedicated interview weeks with interviews from Monday-Friday, the weeks being scheduled between October and December.
Q. What is USMLE cutoff score?
A. There is no definitive cutoff score. We do carefully review these scores, but we also review and consider the entire application.
Q. How many Letters of Recommendation do you require?
A. We require three letters: At least one from radiology and the other two may be from other medical speciaties.
Q. Do you require U.S. clinical experience prior to radiology residency?
A. Prior to starting radiology, a U.S. ACGME accredited one- year clinical experience is required, such as medicine, surgery or transitional-year internships.
Q. Do you offer a transitional year as part of your program?
A. The Internal Medicine Department at KUSM-W will accommodate radiology residents in their PGY-1/clinical year.
Q. Do you have a cutoff for year of medical school graduation?
A. Yes. We will only accept residents who have graduated medical school within four years of beginning residency.
Q. How many residents do you plan to accept this recruitment year?
A.Four.
Q. How many applicants do you plan to interview?
A. About 85.
Q. How long is the interview day?
A. 10 a.m. to approximately 12:45 p.m.
