Backstage Details On John Morrison's Rumored WWE Return
Last month, it was reported that WWE had agreed to a deal with former Intercontinental Champion John Morrison, but things have been quiet on that front for several weeks now.
Morrison also responded to the report and suggested that he hadn't signed a contract with WWE. But according to wrestling insider Brad Shepard, the company has indeed reached a deal with Morrison.
The reason he hasn't showed up yet? WWE is apparently planning out what to do with Morrison when he returns.
The 40-year-old Morrison left WWE in 2010, and he went on to compete for various wrestling promotions. Aside from plenty of work on the independent scene, Morrison made stops in Lucha Underground, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide and Impact Wrestling.
Morrison enjoyed a strong run in Impact Wrestling, where he went by "Johnny Impact," winning the promotion's World Championship on one occasion. He won three Championships in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide and a trio of titles in Lucha Underground.

Morrison joined WWE in 2002, working on their Tough Enough series. He later joined the Raw roster and adopted the ring name "Johnny Nitro." He, Joey Mercury and Melina later formed the villainous "MNM" stable, and they lasted from 2004 to 2006 - winning three WWE Tag Team Championships together.
Morrison also experienced lots of success as a singles and mid-card performer in WWE. He won three Intercontinental Championships plus the ECW World Heavyweight Championship on one occasion - at the 2007 Vengeance: Night of Champions pay-per-view. He and The Miz also won both the WWE Tag Team and the World Tag Team Championships.
What Should WWE Do With Morrison?
A return to Raw as a babyface might be the best move for John Morrison. There are too many heels on the roster, and Morrison flourished as a mid-card babyface. He could enter a program with somebody like AJ Styles, Randy Orton or Drew McIntyre, for example. But it also makes sense for WWE to pair Morrison with somebody else in an effort to boost the tag team division.
