Bayley's Damage CTRL Faction Needs To Break Up After WrestleMania
Quick Links
Bayley and her villainous faction Damage CTRL have been running roughshod over the WWE's women's division for quite some time now. Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai joined Bayley at SummerSlam last year as all three women made their shocking returns to the company after a long leave of absence. They immediately targeted the top women in the company, including Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair. They did attain some success, but lately it seems that the faction is losing its steam and the end of their partnership might be near.
Bayley Recently Hinted At The Demise Of Damage CTRL
On a recent edition of RAW, Damage CTRL was in the ring as Bayley invited her teammates to her Ding Dong, Hello! Show. The Role Model pointed out that the WWE Universe did not appreciate Iyo and Dakota's tag team championship reign. At this point, Becky Lynch who has been feuding with Bayley for the past few months, interrupted their show and challenged the tag champions for a title match next week. To everyone's surprise, The Man brought her own tag team partner, the returning WWE Hall of Famer Lita.
Iyo and Dakota seemed hesitant to accept Becky's challenge and nearly denied it outright. However, The Man played some mind games on Bayley and coaxed her into accepting the challenge on behalf of Iyo and Dakota. The tag team champions were visibly pissed at their leader for accepting the challenge. In a backstage interview after the show, Bayley made amends to her teammates, but it might not be enough.

Damage CTRL Has Failed To Get Iyo Sky And Dakota Kai Over
While their reign as the women's tag team champions has crossed over 100 days, Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky have failed to make an impact on the fans. Although being heels, they do receive some boos from the fans which is a good thing, but many fans are simply not connected to them. They often come out to no reaction which is the worst thing possible for any WWE Superstar. Most of their relevancy relies on the presence of Bayley, and lately, fans are wanting Bayley to go for a singles run.
Bayley has already established a Hall of Fame career, but she is still at her peak and has a lot of potential for future achievements. WWE's idea in pairing Iyo and Dakota with Bayley would have probably been to rub her star power on the other two to make them bigger stars. However, the way the current Women's Tag Team Champions have been booked has not achieved that goal.

Bayley Was At Her Best On Her Own
Bayley was at her best during the pandemic, in fact, many fans believe that she was WWE's most valuable player of that era. While most Superstars stayed home due to Covid-19, Bayley remained on TV performing every week as the SmackDown Women's Champion. Moreover, she delivered excellent performances every week and solidified herself as an all-time great. Her run ended up creating history as she became the longest-reigning SmackDown Women's champion ever. She received praise from fans and critics alike, but as soon as the pandemic ended, unfortunately, she suffered an injury and was shelved for a long time.
When her return rumors before SummerSlam 2022 were running wild, fans seemed ecstatic for the hero of the pandemic era to return, and she did that to a thunderous pop. However, she came back alongside Dakota Sky and Iyo Sky which confused several fans. During her time with Damage CTRL, Bayley herself has achieved almost no success, she's been on the losing end of most of her feuds. Fans have been hounding WWE on social media to break up the faction so that The Role Model can return to her previous glory as a women's champion.
As of now, Bayley and her faction are feuding with Becky Lynch and Lita, but if rumors are to be believed, Trish Stratus will be joining Becky and Lita to take on Damage CTRL in a six-women tag team match at WrestleMania. This would be the perfect setup for Bayley to finally turn on her faction and move on to have a monumental singles run. While Iyo and Dakota will need some rebranding (that is needed regardless), Bayley's exit from the faction will be what is best for all three women in the faction.
