Big Update on Saraya's (Paige) Medical Condition For AEW

If her getting physical during the most recent episode of AEW Dynamite wasn't a dead giveaway, according to Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer, Saraya (formerly Paige of WWE) has been medically cleared to compete for the promotion. If that report is accurate, it explains last Wednesday's booking and it suggests a match is in the works that will pit Saraya versus former AEW Women's Champion Britt Baker.

This news by Meltzer comes after a ton of speculation that Saraya had signed in AEW but it wasn't clear if she would ever get the chance to wrestle. Coming off of some very serious injury issues that threatened her in-ring career, Saraya was retired before coming out of retirement and popping up on AEW programming a few weeks ago. The talk was that AEW might have to use her in a limited role, and potentially as a manager. Her physicality on Wednesday suggests she's been given the green light to compete.

Reports suggest it is AEW's doctor and ringside physician, Dr. Michael Sampson, who has cleared Saraya for competition. That might be seen as a bit iffy to some, Sampson previously worked for WWE in a similar role and is trusted to look after the safety of the performers. He would not have cleared her if he didn't deem it safe to do so.

Will AEW Heavily Push Saraya?

That Saraya can compete has the chance to really change the way the Women's Division in AEW looks. It's long-been the area fans have admittedly said needs work and Saraya is a huge addition to that roster. If she wrestles and can potentially carry the title one day, that brings that division up to a level it's never been at since AEW was formed over three years ago.

This is good news for Saraya and good news for AEW. Let's just hope she stays healthy and previous injuries don't linger or bother her down the road.
