WWE 2K24's release is now only a few days away and, for the most part, we know who will be on its roster. Even most of the DLC coming our way post-launch has already been revealed. It has also been confirmed that even though his files will remain in the game, Brock Lesnar will not be a playable character. However, now there are copies of WWE 2K24 are out in the wild, it has been confirmed two Lesnar matches will remain a part of the game's 40 Years Of WrestleMania showcase.
Brock Lesnar's Showcase Matches
Releasing a month before WrestleMania 40, WWE 2K24's showcase will give players 21 matches from throughout WrestleMania history to play through themselves. Having been a part of some historic WrestleMania matches, it was always going to be a given that Lesnar made a couple of appearances. Turns out he does, and early players of the game have discovered his WrestleMania 30 match against The Undertaker, and his match against Roman Reigns a year later will be a part of the showcase (via The SmackDown Hotel).
Gamers Will Take On Roman Reigns In WWE 2K24 MyRISE Mode
The Tribal Chief becomes the Tribal Landlord - here's a glimpse at the all new storylines for WWE 2K24's MyRISE mode!Not only does that mean Lesnar is still present in the game, but for at least one match, he will almost certainly be playable. Players will presumably have to be the wrestler who wins each match, and since Lesnar was responsible for breaking the streak at WrestleMania 30, that job will be in your hands when you make it to that point in the showcase. Since neither Lesnar nor Reigns won their match at WrestleMania 31 thanks to a Seth Rollins cash-in, so I'm unsure who the player will control until Rollins enters the fray.
Why Lesnar Has Been Removed
The first indicator that Lesnar might be removed from WWE 2K24 came when his likeness was scrubbed from the cover art of the game's 40 Years Of WrestleMania edition. He was also missing from the full roster reveal, and a report shortly after that confirmed even though the need to remove Lesnar from the game had come too late to do it properly, he won't be playable in the game. Since the showcase will likely follow a thread as you play through WrestleMania's history, it also seems likely the mode would have not made sense without his matches.
There has still not been an official statement on why Lesnar won't be playable in WWE 2K24. The assumption is it's because The Beast has allegedly been implicated in the lawsuit filed against Vince McMahon by Janel Grant. The lawsuit mentions a WWE Superstar who has also fought in UFC being convinced to sign a new contract after he was allegedly sent explicit content by Grant, something she claims she was directed to do by McMahon.
