Chavo Guerrero Slams Rey Mysterio For Benefiting Off Of Eddie's And The Guerrero Name

While it's possible he was speaking in character, Chavo Guerrero recently went off on Rey Mysterio Jr. for using the LWO and the Guerrero name in current storylines. Saying, "This whole family worked really, really hard to get that name to where it was and we’re tired of people prostituting it in a sense and using it for their benefit," Guerrero seems to be calling out Rey and said, "... thank you for keeping the Guerrero name alive but we don’t need you, we’re good, you know what I’m saying?"

The comments came during a virtual signing with Captain’s Corner. Chavo spoke frequently about Mysterio and then joked that Rey has been trying to include himself in the Guerrero family for a while. Recently reforming the LWO on WWE programming, Guerrero seemed to take issue with the fact that this was Rey's group to do with what he wanted. Guerrero referenced his feud with Rey in WWE and said he is tired of people ‘prostituting’ the Guerrero name for storylines/angles. He said he and Eddie worked hard to build the Guerrero name and it's not up to Rey to keep that name alive.

Is Chavo Pitching To Get Involved In The Mysterio Storyline?

What seems to be the most obvious clue that Chavo was speaking in character and not seriously upset with Rey was the fact he said that Rey couldn’t hold a candle to him right now. Chavo has had a great wrestling career, but it pales in comparison to what Mysterio has accomplished. He likely knows it and perhaps he's playing a role that would logically see him come to WWE and be part of Dominik's quest to embarrass his father.

He said, “I gotta tell you this, I just don’t understand why Rey Mysterio still has to — look, we all love Eddie (Guerrero). But we’re not going out with his gimmick and our gimmick, it was Los Guerreros’ gimmick and come out with the Los Guerreros, ‘We Lie, We Cheat, We Steal’ and everybody’s like, oh yeah, keeping Eddie’s memory alive." These sound like the kind of words that would make for a great wrestling promo.
