Chris Jericho Won’t Return To WWE Following Success Of Cruise [Rumor]

With the recent success of his Rock N' Wrestling cruise show, speculation is that Chris Jericho won’t be making his way back to WWE anytime soon.

Jericho recently got a number of independent wrestling stars together for a cruise he promoted and by most measures, the event was a huge success. This after WWE was asked to be involved but declined and didn’t permit Jericho to use their NXT talent. Not giving up on his idea, Jericho went ahead with the event using stars from Ring of Honor and Impact Wrestling, among others. While Jericho is now the IGPW Intercontinental Champion and popular among the indie scene for his work outside the biggest wrestling and entertainment promotion in the world, he was still considered very much a “WWE guy”. That may no longer be the case.

According to a report by The Wrestling Observer, Jericho May elect not to return to WWE at all so that he has the freedom to continue projects like his cruise and other independent appearances.

“I don’t sense him going back to WWE because if he goes to WWE — could he do the cruise with independent guys?”, Dave Meltzer asks. “He was completely with them when he announced it and then he had to make a deal with Ring Of Honor to get talent cause he obviously went to WWE first with the idea and they didn’t want anything to do with it.” The speculation is Jericho didn’t like that fact WWE opted out and he certainly wouldn’t be open to a run in WWE if part of that run meant stopping his own projects.

Couple this with the fact Jericho is busy touring with his band Fozzy, WWE and Jericho may not be able to find common ground where a new deal makes sense. This won’t be good news for fans wanting to see Jericho back in WWE but it does mean big things for indie wrestling who may have just learned two of the leaders over the past year (Jericho and Cody Rhodes) are staying put, at least for now.
