After more than seven years of marriage, CJ Perry (Lana in WWE) and Miro (Rusev in WWE) have officially ended their marriage. While the two will remain friends and are currently still working together in AEW, their split is not a storyline. Perry confirmed to TMZ that she and Miro have officially broken up.
TMZ Sports reports that the popular wrestling couple, who portrayed an on-screen married duo, concluded their marriage for good in winter 2023. Despite experiencing tumultuous on-again, off-again moments in their relationship, Perry and Miro have now decided to go their separate ways. They've agreed that they don't work as a couple and will try to stay friends and co-workers.
When asked for confirmation that this wasn't just a rumor, Perry did confirm the official news and released an official statement. She said:
"Miro and I have made the difficult decision to separate after many wonderful years together, and have decided to move on as friends, and hopefully onscreen characters somewhere down the road":
It wasn't explained what the issues were, but it was said that there wasn't just one thing. There also wasn't said to be infidelity or an explosive fight that led to their split. TMZ is saying they simply grew apart over the years. It's logical to assume the two have told AEW about their issues. It's been months since they've wrestled together on TV. While Perry seems to hint that they'll get along amicably, AEW might be fine keeping them apart.
It's important to note, that neither Perry nor Miro has yet filed for divorce. It is being reported that Miro moved back to Bulgaria shortly after the couple broke up.
The Industry Can Be Tough on Marriages
While there are several high-profile relationships in the wrestling industry, many of which include wrestlers dating or married to other wrestlers, the business takes its toll. Miro and Perry aren't the only couple to split. It's an unfortunate situation that we can only hope is going to lead to these two find happiness in whatever path they take next.
