CM Punk Takes Shots At Jon Moxley And Chris Jericho In Deleted Post

Despite almost seven months having passed since it happened, the situation involving CM Punk and The Elite continues to evolve. The latest twist in the tale is a lengthy post from Punk that was published and then quickly deleted via his Instagram stories. Punk used the post to claim he was asked to work hurt by AEW and that Jon Moxley refused to lose to him in his return match.

Punk's Deleted Post

Punk's post appears to be a response to something Dave Meltzer posted the same day. Meltzer claimed the reason Punk vs. Moxley had a short build was because the former agreed to the match but then AEW received a legal letter from Punk's team claiming he actually wasn't okay with the match.

“I wasn’t cleared to come back to wrestle yet. The plan was to wrestle at the PPV,” Punk claimed in the deleted post (H/T to WrestlingHeadlines). “He said he wouldn’t lose to me. I’d never experienced someone refusing to lose to me. I just laughed.” Punk goes on to write that he asked not to compete until he was cleared – he was recovering from a broken foot at the time – but Tony Khan assured him it would be a squash match so he didn't need to be 100 percent.

DELETE!

Just in case you weren't convinced Punk's comments are a response to what Meltzer reported, the two-time AEW Champion closed by saying the journalist is a liar. He also called Chris Jericho a liar (and a stooge), something Le Champion appears to have gotten wind of. Jericho posted a gif of Broken Matt Hardy saying “delete” shortly after news of Punk's post started to go viral.

This week has been an unexpectedly busy one when it comes to Punk AEW news. Before the comments that lit a fire under Punk, Meltzer suggested The Second City Saint might be hinting that he would be open to an AEW return. Punk's face was then covered up during a segment on Dynamite which included one of the company's production trucks. Punk's face is on the side of them and tables were stacked so he wasn't shown on TV.
