Cody Rhodes Reveals Another Major Reason For Returning To WWE
Cody Rhodes' return to the WWE has already been a game-changer, and he hasn't even hit his full ceiling with the company yet.
Rhodes made a highly-anticipated and thrilling WWE return at WrestleMania 38, where he was revealed as Seth Rollins' mystery opponent. The American Nightmare got the better of The Architect in a back-and-forth affair. Rhodes went on to win the the subsequent rematches but unfortunately suffered a torn pectoral that is expected to keep him out of action for about eight more months.
Before his injury, Rhodes was flourishing as one of WWE's top babyfaces. He had never been this over with the WWE Universe during his first run with the company, after all. And it certainly looked like he was on his way to a summer feud with Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, but such a program will have to wait until next year at earliest.
During a recent appearance on "Grit and Glory" (h/t Ringside News) with Montez Ford, Rhodes shared a key factor in his decision to come back to WWE.
"Well, I’ll give you a somewhat arrogant answer. And I don’t mean it with arrogance, but I feel like for two, three years, I feel like nobody’s been able to touch me in the ring," Rhodes said. "And the only way you can say that without feeling a little bit of doubt is having that chip – having extra motivation which is the biggest prize in our world which would be the WWE Championship."

Cody and Brandi Rhodes left AEW in February following the expirations of their respective contracts. Aside from wrestling, The American Nightmare also served as an Executive Vice President in AEW, and Brandi was employed as the company's Chief Brand Officer. Cody's decision to return to WWE was so monumental for several reasons. Among them: AEW had spent the previous three years stockpiling former WWE talents. But Rhodes was the first major ex-AEW star to come to WWE, and Vince McMahon and company wasted little time pushing him.
Rhodes Made A Great Decision
It's not too early to say that Rhodes certainly made the right decision to give WWE a second go following the expiration of his AEW contract. During his six years away from WWE, Rhodes established himself as one of the world's all-around great wrestlers. After flourishing in several promotions, Rhodes now has the fortunes of working remaining his prime years here in WWE.
