Colombian drug lord Fabio Ochoa convicted

Colombian drug lord Fabio Ochoa, a one-time leader of the notorious Medellin cocaine cartel, has been convicted in Miami of two drug conspiracy charges.

A federal court jury found Ochoa, 46, guilty of conspiring to possess cocaine with intent to distribute and conspiring to import cocaine to the United States. He faces up to life in prison when he appears at a sentencing hearing set for August 19.

The three-week trial was conducted under tight security, and jurors' names were kept secret to protect them from reprisals.
