Eddie Kingston Should Be The Biggest Babyface In AEW
Eddie Kingston is well on his way to becoming one of the biggest babyfaces in AEW, and he deserves it. The 40-year-old has been a huge hit with fans since he arrived in Tony Khan's promotion back in 2020, becoming one of the most popular members of the roster. Kingston actually debuted in AEW as a heel, and spent the first seven months of his career with the company as a villain, before he aligned with Jon Moxley in March 2021, turning face.

From there, Kingston was off to the races, and over the last 12 months, since he turned face, he has earned an overwhelming amount of fan support, rivaling that of some of the biggest names in AEW, and in some cases even overshadowing them. As his popularity continues to rise with seemingly every single appearance, it's only a matter of time before the former LAX member becomes one of the biggest babyfaces in the company, and if AEW is wise, they'll make him the biggest.
Kingston Has A Strong Connection With The Fans
Very rarely has there been a wrestler with a connection to audiences quite as strong as Kingston. The manner in which he has adhered himself to fans worldwide during his time in AEW is quite impressive, and he regularly has one of the loudest reactions of the night whenever he appears on television.
Kingston's intense crowd support has even seen fans turn on hugely popular stars such as CM Punk and Chris Jericho during their feuds with the Mad King. Hearing fans cheer for Eddie and boo Punk, just months after his glorious return to professional wrestling was a glaring reminder that Kingston's popularity with fans was quickly growing way bigger than anyone could have possibly anticipated just 12 months ago.
A prime example of his wholesome connection with fans would be the moving promo he cut just days after his win over Jericho at Revolution. Talking about a number of fans who had reached out to him and credited him for saving their lives, Eddie grew emotional talking about how everything he did was to make them proud, and it was such a moving moment that really symbolized just how strong the relationship he had with the audience had become.
When there's a wrestler on the roster who's grown so popular that audiences are willing to side with them over industry legends like CM Punk, AEW would be wise to capitalize on the situation and really allow Kingston to become the biggest babyface they have to offer.
He Is Just A Genuinely Likable Guy
Too often, wrestlers and their characters can feel a little phony. Sure, there are gimmicks such as The Undertaker who are supposed to be beyond the realms of believability, but there are a number of other stars whose characters while perceived as realistic, just come across as fake.

Kingston doesn't have that issue though, and he comes across as one of the most genuine characters in the industry. It feels silly to even call him a character, as Eddie just feels like he's being himself, and it's gone a long way into having fans care so much about him. He is never afraid to be open and honest in his promos, and it has created a sense of relatability around him that very few other wrestlers have ever achieved.
Kingston has always openly shared his past struggles with fans, and he serves as a wonderful example of how anyone can overcome their deepest demons. Fans look at Eddie and see one of their own. He doesn't feel like the larger-than-life characters they've grown accustomed to, but someone they can relate to, and that has only intensified their support for him.
He Is One Of The Best Talkers In Wrestling
There are very few in the history of the business who are quite as effective as Kingston when it comes to cutting promos. He has fans hanging on to every single word, and there's a sense of unpredictability around him when he has a microphone in his hands that makes him one of the most exciting figures in AEW.
Kingston has shown in feuds with former AEW world champion Moxley, Punk, and Jericho that he is more than capable of standing toe to toe with some of the best talkers in the industry, and more often than not outshines them.
While he isn't the best in-ring worker in the promotion, Kingston is certainly serviceable inside the squared circle and as his popularity continues to skyrocket, AEW would be wise to take advantage of the superstar he is becoming and crown him the number one babyface in the company.
