Elden Ring: Where To Get The Lantern
Having a light source is essential for exploring the cavernous depths of Elden Ring's darker Dungeons, and the Lantern is the perfect solution.
Exploring dark caves and dimly lit Dungeons are common activities in Elden Ring, and while Torches provide Tarnished with an adequate source of light, the Lantern is considerably more practical. The Lantern is a waist-worn Key Item dimmer than the hand-held Torch but provides the convenience of freeing up the user's hand. This feature is exceptionally beneficial since many Tarnished builds require two-handed weaponry or a held shield in Elden Ring.
Many Tarnished adventurers will undoubtedly have encountered Merchant Kalé at the Church of Elleh in Limgrave and purchased the Torch from him. However, there may be some who do not know where or how they are able to acquire the Torch's optimal alternative, the Lantern. Fortunately, Elden Ring offers two locations for obtaining the Lantern, in case Tarnished missed the first during the start of their journey. Both Lanterns are sold by Merchant NPCs and cost a Rune price of 1,800. Therefore, the player will need to prepare these funds before visiting either vendor.
The first Lantern location in Elden Ring is in the Weeping Peninsula, the southern sub-region of Limgrave. More specifically, Tarnished can find the Lantern's seller within the Isolated Merchant's Shack near the peninsula's southwestern coast. To reach this site, the player must travel southeast from The First Step Site of Grace and cross the Bridge of Sacrifice. The patrolling enemies within the area aren't very strong, but a ballista guarding the bridge could be tricky to get by.
Lantern Locations In Elden Ring
After journeying further south in Elden Ring, Tarnished will run into a fork in the path. From here, take the road on the right and head north to the Ailing Village. Continue westward until reaching the Church of Pilgrimage, from which players can go southwest down the large slope and into the valley below. The Isolated Merchant's Shack can be found southwest of the Wandering Mausoleum.
Suppose Tarnished have yet to explore Elden Ring's Weeping Peninsula or missed the Isolated Merchant. In that case, they can still purchase another Lantern from a Nomadic Merchant near the Liurnia Lake Shore Site of Grace within Liurnia of the Lakes. The Liurnia region sits just above Limgrave and can be accessed by beating Godrick of Stormveil or trekking the mountainside path north of Stormhill. Once players reach the Lake-Facing Cliffs, they can head northwest to the Liurnia Lake Shore, just south of the region's Map Fragment. As mentioned above, the Nomadic Merchant will sell the Lantern for the same price of 1,800 Runes.
