Every Version Of The Bella Twins, Ranked Worst To Best
There aren't many women in WWE history who have had a more up-and-down career than The Bella Twins. Nikki and Brie debuted with the company through the Divas Search and spent their first run as eye candy who didn't seem to take wrestling seriously. It made a lot of fans dislike them.

However, The Bellas returned to WWE in 2013 and changed things. They started putting in the hard work and became quality wrestlers. More than that, Nikki and Brie have become household names with their own reality TV show, several business ventures, and more. Each version of these ladies has been pretty memorable.
10 Various Side Roles
A major reason behind The Bella Twins choosing to leave WWE in 2012 was their lack of prominent storylines. They'd do something of note once in a while but mostly spent 2009 through 2012 as nothing more than side characters.
If there was a guest host on Raw, Nikki and Brie would likely be at their side for a segment or two. They were on opposing sides of backing Team Teddy and Team Johnny at WrestleMania XXVIII but didn't play a true role in the angle or outcome of the match. They were afterthoughts in this era but it set the tone for their future.
9 Early Days
When The Bella Twins first arrived in WWE, they made an impact in surprisingly quick fashion. After not winning the Divas Search, Brie Bella debuted on Smackdown. She would win and lose matches without much else of note happening until something changed one night.
As Brie was pulled out from under the ring, so was Nikki. The audience was surprised to see that Brie had a twin sister and it set them off. They didn't win championships or anything but they'd steal victories using their trademark "twin magic."
8 Daniel Bryan's Love Interests
Although The Bella Twins proved to be far more than just "love interests" in their career, this was a good time for them because it gave them a storyline to sink their teeth into. In it, Nikki and Brie fought for the affections of Daniel Bryan, who was billed as someone who didn't know what to do when a woman liked him.
Ultimately, it led to nothing for them as Bryan was secretly romancing Gail Kim at the time. Looking back, this was an odd angle since Brie was dating Bryan in real life and went on to marry him, meaning Bryan kissed his future sister-in-law.
7 First Divas Title Runs
As noted, The Bella Twins improved in the ring following their 2013 return. However, both Nikki and Brie had their first taste of gold during their initial stint with the company. For Brie, that came in April 2011 when she beat Eve Torres and held the title for 70 days before losing it to Kelly Kelly.

Nikki Bella's time as champion was a bit more interesting. She ended the dominant Divas Title reign of Beth Phoenix in April 2012 but only held the belt for less than a week, losing to Layla. They weren't great champions but it was a start.
6 2013 Return
The Bella Twins were only gone from WWE for a few short months when they showed back up in March 2013. They immediately entered into a program involving Team Rhodes Scholars, Tons of Funk, and The Funkadactyls. Of course, their WrestleMania 29 match was famously cut.
Despite that, the girls showed they had improved and became more popular due to the start of Total Divas. It helped them land on pay-per-view often, competing at SummerSlam, Survivor Series, and more. They earned title shots and felt like true stars.
5 Team Bella
WWE started their #GiveDivasAChance movement as fans wanted to see the women play a bigger role within the company. That coincided with the arrival to the main roster of NXT standouts Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair. Flair and Lynch teamed with Paige, while Banks joined up with Tamina and Naomi.
Opposing them was Team Bella, consisting of Nikki, Brie, and Alicia Fox. They typically won the fewest matches of the three trios but they were putting on solid performances and worked well together. Plus, Alicia and Brie helped Nikki keep hold of her Divas Championship.
4 Rivals
There was a ton of potential with this storyline. At SummerSlam 2014, Nikki Bella turned on her sister and helped Stephanie McMahon defeat her. The angle could've seen Nikki as the female lead of The Authority similar to how Seth Rollins played the role on the male side.

It also allowed Brie to become a sympathetic underdog babyface. This feud was held back by some poorly received segments (the Jerry Springer one for example) and the fact that Brie seemingly forgot she was mad at her sister once she helped Nikki win the Divas Title. Still, their match at Hell in a Cell proved to be quite good.
3 2018 Return
Brie Bella announced her retirement at WrestleMania 32 and Nikki Bella seemed to disappear from WWE in 2017. The ladies made a triumphant return in the inaugural Women's Royal Rumble match, finishing as the first and second runner-ups.
They showed up again in the back half of the year, starting a feud with Ronda Rousey. That set up Nikki Bella facing Rousey in the main event of the historic first all-women's PPV, Evolution. Brie Bella also competed alongside Daniel Bryan in a fun feud against The Miz and Maryse.
2 Brie Mode
It's pretty odd to consider what Brie Bella turned into a marketable phrase and persona. The whole concept of "Brie Mode" was born on Total Divas to describe how Brie feels when she gets drunk.
Surprisingly, it went on to become Brie's catchphrase, something she screamed before hitting offense, something on merchandise, and even the intro to her theme song. This era of Brie was certainly her best in terms of marketability, in-ring work, promo skills, and basically everything else.
1 Fearless Nikki
Although they entered the company together and are always associated, The Bella Twins developed their own personas over time. While Brie Mode was running wild, Nikki began promoting herself as being fearless.
It was plastered all over her gear and helped signal a personality change. Nikki wasn't holding anything back as the top female star in WWE. She was known pretty much everywhere, was a reality TV star, had some great matches, and set a record as the longest-reigning Divas Champion.
