Every WWE Belt Design From The Attitude Era, Ranked

Title belts from the Attitude Era were largely nice aesthetic designs. In this period most belts had their own identity and uniqueness. The Attitude Era was defined by individuality and this was reflected in many of the designs of the championships of this period.

Although most titles from this era used the gold plate with a blue globe in the center, the designs were all different.  In the modern era, most belt designs use a basic design, with the large WWE logo in the middle. In the Attitude Era, however, the titles were different shapes and sizes with different patterns on the gold plates. Each belt had its own identity and was instantly recognizable.

10 The Hardcore Championship Belt

The Hardcore championship wasn't a nice looking belt, nor was it intended to be. This belt was essentially a wrecked version of the iconic 'winged eagle' belt with the words Hardcore Champion plastered over it.

This title was defended under 24/7 rules, where anyone could pin the champion, at any time, so long as there was a referee present. Often the matches for this title would spill to the backstage and even outside the arena. The comedic and chaotic nature of the hardcore division was reflected in the belts design.

9 The Light Heavyweight Championship Belt

The Light heavyweight title in this era was one of the more minor titles. It did not feature in a major way throughout most of this era and the division did not really get going until after the Attitude Era.

This design of the Light heavyweight title was notable for its red strap, as opposed to the black, which most other belts used at this time. This was a fairly basic design and not too interesting to look at.

8 The Women's Championship Belt

The women's championship from this era was a simple design, a gold plate with 'Woman's champion' printed in the middle. This belt was held by the likes of Sable, Jaqueline, Trish Stratus, Lita, and Chyna in this period.

The women's division during this era was not the strongest, so the title did not feature prominently in the product. But the design itself was good and it holds up well in comparison to other versions of the women's belt before and since.

7 The European Championship Belt

The European title was a short-lived championship in the WWE, but it featured prominently in the Attitude Era. Holders included Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Owen Hart, X-Pac, and D'Lo Brown.

This was the template for most belts of this era, with the blue globe in the middle and gold surrounding it. However, the red plate in the middle and the flags gave this belt a certain uniqueness. Although there was not much prestige associated with this title, the design was nice.

6 The First Intercontinental Championship Belt Of The Attitude Era

This Intercontinental Championship design is not as nice as its successor, but nonetheless, this was a nice looking title belt.

The Rock held this title during 1998 until he was defeated by Triple H at SummerSlam, after which the title design was changed. This belt had a basic design, but it always looked the part whenever wrestlers wore it down to the ring.

5 The Smoking Skull Championship Belt

The Smoking Skull Championship is the most unique design of this era. This was a custom-made belt worn exclusively by Stone Cold Steve Austin.

The general design of this belt with the skull and the smoke pouring out of the eyes made this a perfect title for Stone Cold at this time. Although we did not see this title much, it looked the part when Austin used to wear it down to the ring.

4 The Tag Team Championship Belt

Edge and Christian

The World tag team titles featured prominently during the Attitude Era, mostly due to the ladder and TLC matches. Held by the likes of the Hardy Boyz, Edge & Christian, the Dudley Boyz, the New Age Outlaws and the Rock 'n' Sock Connection - these belts floated around a lot during this era.

The design of these titles was one of the best from this era. They look like prestigious championship belts and were instantly recognizable to fans.

3 The Second Intercontinental Championship Belt Of The Attitude Era

This design of this Intercontinental championship lasted for many years in WWE, during and after the Attitude Era. Held by the likes of Ken Shamrock, The Rock, Triple H, and Chris Jericho - this was the title that helped elevate many stars of this era into main event status.

The design of this belt had a different shape to it compared to other titles from this era and that is what made it stand out from the rest.

2 The Second WWE Championship Belt Of The Attitude Era

The WWE championship throughout the majority of the Attitude Era was this design. Held by the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kane, The Rock, Undertaker, Triple H, Mankind, and Kurt Angle made this title one of the most iconic in WWE history.

This looked like a proper championship and appropriate for its status as the top belt in WWE. This title looked important, being the top title in WWE at the time it had to and it always stood out around the shoulder of whoever the WWE champion was at the time.

1 The First WWE Championship Belt Of The Attitude Era

Shawn Michaels WWE Champion

The classic 'winged eagle' belt was used in the very early part of the Attitude Era in 1998. Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold Steve Austin held this title until it was replaced by a new design after WrestleMania XIV.

This belt might not have been around for much of the Attitude Era, but the design tops everything else on this list. Titles should always look important and have their own identity and this one did.
