James Ellsworth Jokes That He Should Enter The Women's MITB Match
James Ellsworth joked that he should try to qualify for this year's women's Money In The Bank match following on from his 'win' last year.
Women wrestlers have come a long, long way in WWE over the last few years. Two Money In The Bank ladder matches at next month's pay per view, one for the men and one for the women, is no longer a big deal as it is simply the norm. However even though last year's Money In The Bank PPV staged the first ever match where the women went for the briefcase, next month will mark the third for the females.
The reason there were two quick fire Money In The Bank ladder matches for the women last year was because of James Ellsworth. The former WWE Superstar controversially ascended the ladder in the history making match, unhooked the briefcase, and threw it down to Carmella. It left a bad taste in a lot of fans' mouths and a rematch happened a little while later where Carmella attained the contract all by herself.
Ellsworth was released by WWE later that same year of course but that didn't stop him from having a little fun on social media this week. In light of the litany of MITB qualifying matches taking place on Raw and SmackDown Live this week Ellsworth sent out an apropos tweet. He threw out the question to his followers asking them whether he should try to qualify for the women's ladder match this year.
Following on from his ladder match intrusion Ellsworth began battling with the women of SmackDown Live. He had a match with Becky Lynch and pretty much the last thing he did before his release was get beaten up by the entire women's roster on the blue brand while on a European tour with WWE. He has also made a gimmick out of wrestling women on the indies since leaving the company.

Thankfully there is currently no sign of a male Superstar sticking their nose into this year's women's MITB ladder match. So far we know just two of the wrestlers who will be competing, Ember Moon from Raw and Charlotte Flair from SmackDown Live. The latter of those two will really want to win so that she can do to Carmella what the current SmackDown Women's Champion did to her.
