Jason Momoa has commented on the rumors that he will play Lobo in the new DC Universe. The actor plays Aquaman in the DCEU, but with the shared universe getting rebooted in favor of James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DCU, Momoa's fate as Arthur Curry after Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is not looking good. Rumors have risen that Momoa is leaving Aquaman behind to play the anti-hero Lobo and join the canon characters of the DCU.
Speaking to Fandango, Momoa revealed whether he is in talks to play Lobo in Gunn's DCU or not.
While Momoa talked about how DC Comics' Lobo was his favorite character when he collected comic books, the actor revealed that he has not yet received a call to play him in the DCU. However, should DC reach out to him, Momoa would agree to play Lobo, eagerly saying, "I mean, listen, if they call me and ask me to play it? It's a f*** yeah," as Lobo is "the perfect role." Check out the full quote below:
"So, Lobo… I used to collect comics and I don't do so much anymore, but he was always my favorite. And I've always wanted to play Lobo because I'm like, 'Hello?.’ It's pretty perfect. It's the perfect role. I mean, listen, if they call me and ask me to play it? It's a f*** yeah. But, I mean, that's a guarantee. So, you don't have to worry about that. But, I haven't received that call. So, I don't want to put any fake news out there but if they ever call me and ask me to play, or ask me to audition, I'm there."

Momoa Has Been Rumored To Play Lobo For Some Time
While Momoa has now addressed whether he was really in talks with DC to play Lobo, this is far from the first time the actor has commented on his love for the anti-hero. Momoa had made it clear in the past that he would be game to play Lobo and even thought he would be doing so at one point. During his conversation with Fandango, Momoa admitted that when director Zack Snyder called him to offer a role at DC, he thought it would be Lobo and not Aquaman.
A while after Momoa commented that he would love to play Lobo, James Gunn shared a Lobo tease on social media, leading to the speculation over the actor going from Aquaman to DC's "Main Man" starting. Momoa was then asked about Gunn's tease, saying, "That would be amazing if that happened. I’m just happy that [James] Gunn is at the helm and [Peter] Safran, who is just like my heart." Despite playing Aquaman in the DCEU, the path is seemingly open for Momoa to play Lobo, according to new reports.
The entire cast of the DCEU's Justice League will reportedly be recast for the new DC Universe, which would allow Momoa to switch DC roles. Momoa's role in the DCU was touched upon this October in a report from Variety. According to the report, "the actor has engaged in talks to play Lobo, either in the 2025 reboot “Superman: Legacy,” written and directed by Gunn, or in a standalone film." While Momoa has now denied that he is in talks to play Lobo, the actor's fan-favorite status and good relationship with Gunn and Safran make a DCU turn as Lobo a strong possibility.
