Kenta Wants Royalties From CM Punk For The GTS
Now Double or Nothing is in the rearview mirror, AEW can really ramp up the build for Forbidden Door. Its crossover PPV with New Japan which is now less than a month away. AEW is in the unique position of having a much shorter build for this show than any that have come before it. Its four PPVs per year model means it usually has to fill at least three months of TV between major shows.
The Forbidden Door
As for some of the big clashes we might see at Forbidden Door, new AEW Champion CM Punk started to stir the pot as to who he wants to face. Punk name-dropped Kazuchika Okada and Will Ospreay, but no mention of Kenta. Kenta has trying to goad Punk into a match ever since the Forbidden Door show was announced, largely based on the fact both of them use the Go To Sleep as a finisher.

Kenta not getting a mention from Punk during the Double or Nothing media scrum hasn't gone unnoticed by the New Japan star. “It looks like the forbidden door won’t open for me. But I’m totally fine as long as he pays royalty,” Kenta tweeted in response. The former NXT and 205 Live star is presumably hinting that he wants Punk to start paying to use a move Kenta used first.
Royalties For The GTS
Kenta has been attempting to use the GTS as an entry point for a feud with Punk for a while, adding the royalties element to it over the course of the past few days. For any fans still doubting that he was the one who used the move first, Kenta posted a clip of the first time he ever did the move in Pro Wrestling Noah around 20 years ago. Kenta explained this was the first time he used it “before someone use in WWE.”
One fan replied to Kenta's tweet arguing that Punk does the move better. Kenta naturally didn't take kindly to that claim, replying that he doesn't care and making the first mention of Punk needing to pay him royalties should he want to use the move. There's a chance this match is already on the Forbidden Door card behind the scenes, and that Punk ignoring Kenta is all part of the plan. A main event match between the two with the use of the GTS on the line would be a pretty great idea.
