The long wait is finally over for Panama.
The Central American nation scored its first-ever Women's World Cup goal on Wednesday, with midfielder, Marta Cox, notching the historic strike in the second minute of their match against France.
Cox's goal was a thing of beauty, curling her free kick into the top corner from 30 yards out to give Panama a shock 1-0 lead over the European powerhouse.

Panama's goal against France came after just 67 seconds, per the BBC.
That is the quickest goal of the 2023 Women's World Cup thus far.

France rally with four goals
Panama's dreams of recording a shock win in their group finale were dashed, though, after France scored four unanswered goals in the first half.
Maelle Lakrar equalised for her country in the 21st minute after her goal-bound header was diverted by Panama's Deysire Salazar into the back of her own net.
France then took a 2-1 lead in the 28th minute with Kadidiatou Diani scoring the goal. The Frenchwomen doubled their lead in the 37th minute via a Diani penalty after Yomira Pinzon was ruled to have touched the ball with her arm inside the box.
France made it 4-1 in first-half injury time with Lea le Garrec's cross finding the back of the net, per The Guardian.
