Marvel's Spider-Man Players Request Amazing Spider-Man 2 Suit

Fans are requesting that Insomniac add Andrew Garfield's suit from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to Marvel's Spider-Man after Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Marvel’s Spider-Man fans are requesting that Andrew Garfield’s costume from 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 be added as DLC. Insomniac’s critically-acclaimed open-world take on Marvel’s iconic web-slinging superhero provides players with plenty of alternate outfits to roam the streets of New York City in style, including those from Spidey’s adventures on the big screen. The most recent batch of alternate Marvel’s Spider-Man costumes included the ones that Tom Holland dons in the recent Spider-Man: No Way Home, though they are currently unavailable on the PlayStation 4 version of the game due to technical constraints.

However, despite all of Tom Holland’s MCU costumes and Tobey Maguire’s famous Webbed Suit from the Spider-Man Trilogy of the 2000s being featured in Marvel’s Spider-Man, one silver-screen iteration of the Webhead has remained oddly absent in Insomniac’s game: Andrew Garfield’s outfit from The Amazing Spider-Man 2. While Garfield's second solo Spidey film was met with an icy reception from fans and critics when it was released back in 2014, moviegoers praised Peter's updated costume for being more faithful to the comics than the suit from 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man - which was added to Marvel’s Spider-Man in an update patch last November. Fans still feel the absence of Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man 2 suit a little over a year later, and Garfield's recent surprise appearance in Spider-Man: No Way has only fueled the calls for Insomniac to add it to Marvel’s Spider-Man.

GameRant reports that Reddit users have been posting to the Spider-Man subreddit to address the lack of the Amazing Spider-Man 2 costume in Marvel’s Spider-Man over the past couple of days. User AlwaysBi posted a humorous meme of J Jonah Jameson lamenting The Amazing Spider-Man 2 suit’s absence to Eddie Brock (representing the Integrated Suit from No Way Home) and Peter Parker (representing the Rami suit). DrDrizzels posted a fitting clip from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 of Peter grieving over a deceased Gwen Stacy (who is depicted as a picture of the Spidey suit from that movie). Finally, Thornadan recalled how they had their hopes raised by an Amazing Spider-Man 2 recommendation - only to find that it was simply the launch trailer for the ill-fated The Amazing Spider-Man 2 tie-in game from 2014.

Fans have suggested that if it’s too late to add the Spidey suit from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in Marvel’s Spider-Man, then perhaps Insomniac can include it in the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Details about this upcoming follow-up have slowly started to emerge after its initial announcement during September’s PlayStation Showcase livestream, with people involved in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s development promising a larger and darker game that will see Peter Parker and Miles Morales face off against classic foes like Venom and Kraven The Hunter.

Meanwhile, Insomniac’s excellent Marvel’s Spider-Man games have always taken inspiration from Spidey's various big-screen adventures - with Spider-Man: No Way Home recently paying them back in kind by having Peter perform an attack from the games. Despite Marvel’s Spider-Man allowing players to save the day as virtually any version of Spidey they wish, the absence of Andrew Garfield’s costume from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 continues to be a slight area of complaint among players.
