No Way Out & 9 Other Classic Wrestling PPVs That Fans Want To See Return Under Triple H

There has been a big feeling of change over the last few months in WWE, with Vince McMahon stepping down from power, with the likes of Triple H, Nick Khan, and Stephanie McMahon working together to fill his enormously huge shoes at the top of the company’s totem pole.

Triple H is someone who is seemingly listening to the people a lot more than his father-in-law did, with there being a renewed focus on in-ring action, more reference to actual wrestling, and the return of many former and popular names. According to WrestleVotes per GiveMeSport, Triple H looks to be potentially doing away with the Money in the Bank PPV, with talk of the Hell in a Cell event being over too, leaving the door open for WWE to potentially bring back some classic PPVs that fans want to see again.

10 No Way Out

WWE’s current Elimination Chamber PPV took the place of the old No Way Out event. WWE began hosting the Chamber matches at the show, so decided to instead rebrand the entire PPV.

This left WWE cornered by having to book a certain match type, but if it were to revert back to No Way Out, then there would be less pressure to shoe-horn Chamber matches. With the Chamber taking place before WrestleMania, it is often very predictable. However, if WWE were to just bring in the stipulation now and again on random shows, it would add more stakes.

9 Armageddon

Armageddon used to close up WWE’s calendar year in their PPV schedule, with it often being the annual December event. The entire atmosphere, color scheme, and everything else made it always feel unique, as WWE played into the whole “Armageddon” theme.

The show has played host to many moments, such as Jeff Hardy’s WWE Championship win, Evolution's night of dominance, the six-man Hell in a Cell match in 2000, and a classic Three Stages of Hell match between Triple H & Shawn Michaels. It was a popular event with a strong legacy, and it was certainly better than the year-closing TLC show.

8 Unforgiven

WWE hosted 11 Unforgiven events, making it a long-standing PPV which produced many classics for over a decade, with it existing throughout the Attitude Era and Ruthless Aggression Era, meaning that it would stand out to many of the fans that WWE have lost over time.

This show has a legacy created by the TLC match between John Cena and Edge, a brutal fight between Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho, and several other brilliant bouts over the years.

7 No Mercy

The name of “No Mercy” is quite simply a wonderful and cool name for a PPV. WWE had several of these events throughout the 2000s, before a big break and then bringing it back again following the 2016 brand split for two years. It was also the name of one of WWE’s most popular video games.

Many of these shows were brilliant, with great bouts like Kurt Angle vs The Rock, Brock Lesnar vs Undertaker, and Chris Jericho vs Shawn Michaels. WWE would be wise to bring back this event for a third time, with it being a favorite.

6 Starrcade

WCW’s marquee yearly show has been brought back for the odd house show or Network special, but it hasn’t been properly built up as a major event. WCW still holds a remarkably strong legacy, and producing a major PPV under the Starrcade name would get fans talking.

Although WWE likes to remind fans that they defeated WCW, the company still played a huge part into what WWE is today, so its history should be celebrated and its legacy should be utilized to a fuller extent.

5 One Night Stand

In terms of giving some celebration to the past, the One Night Stand PPV is another way WWE could do that in order to hone in on a lost or lapsed fanbase. This event was brought into WWE as an ECW special, and it went down a storm initially.

It would eventually morph into the Extreme Rules show, though this is a far less eye-catching name than One Night Stand. With the likes of Paul Heyman still in WWE, the marketing for a returning One Night Stand could be fantastic.

4 Bash At The Beach

Looking back at other favorite WCW shows, one which has an enormous legacy is the Bash at the Beach event, with it being notable for the debut of the nWo. With this having such a huge history with this stable, WWE could well bring it back considering they have plenty of factions to work with now, and they could cleverly use the formation of the nWo to market some gang warfare on the event.

NXT has been utilizing classic events over time, with them having yearly Halloween Havoc specials, but Bash at the Beach isn’t one they have touched yet, and WWE could well use it on the main roster.

3 Cyber Sunday

In the current age of social media, it feels like a no brainer to get fans involved with an event like Cyber Sunday. Whether it was rigged or not, the Cyber Sunday concept with fans choosing the direction of the show was one which carried a lot of excitement and unpredictability.

WWE wouldn’t have to revert back to the original concept entirely, but they could get very creative with all the different ways to incorporate fan involvement.

2 Judgment Day

Back when WWE ran In Your House PPVs, some of them were often given names which reference superstars, such as DX, Rock Bottom, Revenge of the Taker, and others. WWE’s current Judgment Day faction is on the rise, and if Triple H decided to bring back the event, then it could further help the stable feel even bigger.

Having an entire event sharing their name would feel like a big statement, with it also being an event which has a strong legacy and history, with it also playing host to great matches and moments.

1 King Of The Ring

Bret Hart King Of The Ring

The King of the Ring tournament has been butchered by WWE over the years, with its many renewals feeling irrelevant at times. However, many fans still look at the tournament as a classic part of WWE.

Perhaps if WWE brought back the PPV event, then the importance of the tournament could be repaired. More stakes being given to the winner, such as a title match, would be the perfect way to re-establish the crown.
