Nuoc cham (Vietnamese dipping sauce)

Nuoc cham is a popular Vietnamese dipping sauce and has the balanced flavours of sweet, sour, salty and spicy.

Ingredients

¼ cupLimes, freshly squeezed juice, or use lemon juice
2 TbspSweet chilli sauce, or use 3 tbsp if required
2 TbspFish sauce
2 TbspWater, or use 3 tbsp if required
1Garlic clove, very finely chopped
1Red chilli, or use 2 chillies if required, finely chopped

Directions

  1. Combine all the ingredients together and mix until the sweet chilli sauce dissolves.
  2. Set aside for at least 10 minutes to allow the flavours to mix and mingle.
