Pokémon Legends: Arceus - Wurmple Evolution Guide

Wurmple has a different method of evolution in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Here's how trainers can get both evolutions i.e. Dustox and Beautifly.

Wurmple returns in Pokémon Legends: Arceus for trainers to find and capture. Making its debut back in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, Wurmple acted as that generation's generic Bug-type Pokémon. The thing that makes Wurmple so unique is that it can evolve into two different Pokémon and is completely dependent on Wurmple's personality value. Unfortunately, this value is completely hidden to the player, so there's no way to determine which form Wurmple will take. It's completely random, but it will always happen once the Wurmple reaches level 7.

Wurmple will either transform into a Cascoon or a Silcoon. If it evolves into a Cascoon, it will change into a Dustox once it reaches level 10. As for Silcoon, it will evolve into Beautifly as it reaches level 10. Therefore, it's important to try and collect both of them for Pokémon Legends: Arceus's Pokédex. Completing this will reward players with the Shiny Charm, a Key Item that increases the chances of running into Shiny Pokémon.

Although, Wurmple that originate from the Hisui region have a different evolutionary method. In Hisui, Wurmple will evolve depending on the time of day. If trainers evolve it during the day, it will change into a Silcoon, while evolving it during the night will change into a Cascoon. Pokémon Legends: Arceus handles its evolution method much differently from the other games. Normally, the Pokémon will automatically evolve once it reaches the appropriate level. In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the player will need to go into their menu and evolve Wurmple manually.

Changing The Time of Day in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Fortunately, the game makes it easy to change the time of day. It will naturally pass as the player explores one of the many wild areas in the Hisui region. Although, the player can visit one of the nearby camps where they can rest and heal their Pokémon. There will be an option to change the time of day while resting. Select either night or day and evolve Wurmple to get the correct form.

Wurmple will appear in the wilds of Obsidian Fieldlands. It's a fairly low-level Pokémon, making it easier to capture. However, it's important to capture as many Wurmple as possible since its evolution is entirely random. Having multiple Wurmple will make the odds of getting both evolutions much easier. Obsidian Fieldlands is the first open area where trainers can find Wurmple and other Pokémon, Apricorns, and Tumblestones in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. While Dustox and Beautifly aren't the best Pokémon to have on the team, they are required to complete the Pokédex.
