Ranking All Of The Judges & Hosts
The hosts and judges are a big part of Dancing With The Stars, but amongst all of them, which are the best and most unforgettable?
Dancing With the Stars is one of the most popular competition-based reality shows on television. Professional dancers and their celebrity partners have been pairing up to shake their groove things for millions of adoring fans for an astounding twenty-nine seasons. Over those many seasons, we have witnessed extreme talent, hard work, dozens upon dozens of amazing routines, and plenty of hosts and judges.
The hosts and judges bring an extra level of personality to an already packed series. Some of them bring a little more pizazz than others. Here are our favorite Dancing With the Stars judges and hosts who have entertained us throughout the years.
10 Tyra Banks
Ms. Tyra Banks is taking her place as DWTS judge, replacing Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews. Fans aren't sure about the switch, Tom and Erin have been on the show for years, and people fancy them on the stage. Producers of the show stand by their decision to shake up the hosting duties, and Tyra will likely bring plenty of personality and hosting expertise to the role.
She is, after all, the mastermind behind America's Next Top Model. For now, Tyra Banks ranks low on our list of favorite judges and hosts because we have yet to see what she can really do with this particular series. Stay tuned!
9 Julianne Hough
Julianne, the dancing sister to head honcho Derek Hough, took a stab at hosting duties both on DWTS and America's Got Talent, and the jury was mixed at her abilities.
While she is everything on the dance floor, she sometimes struggles with laying it all out for dancers. Julianne is sweet as sugar, and judges need to be able to tell it like it is. Regardless, the dancing queen had one fan in Tom Bergeron. He thought she did splendidly in the hosting arena. Still, she is always fun to watch, no matter what she is doing onscreen.
8 Derek Hough
Derek Hough is the face of Dancing With the Stars. He has performed season after season, winning a record number of seasons at six! Derek can certainly dance and create memorizing routines, but he can also assess other dancers.
Fans love seeing Derek each week, whether it is in a dancing capacity or a judging one. This season he doubled down on both duties, judging and hitting the floor to shake it with his longtime dancing girlfriend, Hayley Erbert.
7 Erin Andrews
Erin Andrews picked up her hosting microphone in 2014. She seemed to compliment Tom Bergeron perfectly, and fans got very comfortable watching the two of them work the stage like a couple of hosting professionals.
2020 marked the end of an era when Andrews and Bergeron departed the show and made room for former model Tyra Banks to come and take over their spots. Erin will be missed. She sure was good at her job.
6 Brooke Burke
Beautiful Brooke Burke had her moment in the sun hosting the famous reality television series. She first tried her hand at hosting with the show Wild On! Rock Star back in 2005.
In 2010 she wowed crowds with her dancing appearance on Dancing With the Stars, winning the season. She made quite an impression on people because she then took up co-hosting duties onstage from 2010 to 2013.
5 Samantha Harris
Samantha Harris is a very recognizable face in entertainment, having spent time hosting Dancing With the Stars and Entertainment Tonight. Harris has so many crucial qualities of a hostess with the mostess.
She is easy on the eye, has a great speaking voice, and is relatable. Contestants and fans always seemed to feel at ease with Harris on stage, which is why she is one of our favorite DWTS hosts to date.
4 Tom Bergeron
When it comes to hosting duties, Tom Bergeron sits at the top of the pack. He had a long run on Dancing With the Stars, hosting from 2005 to 2020. Every week Tom showed up to introduce contestants and keep everything running smoothly. He has a great presence on stage, which is probably why everyone wants him hosting their series.
DWTS wasn't Tom's only hosting job. He was also the voice behind America's Funniest Home Videos from 2001 to 2015 and the British television show Strictly Come Dancing. Tom Bergeron really is the host with the most.
3 Len Goodman
Judge Len Goodman is a big deal in ballroom dancing and perhaps an even bigger deal in the world of reality television. Goodman always has something to say about dancers and their abilities.
Sometimes those words are encouraging and complimentary, and sometimes they aren't. Regardless of what Len is thinking, you can be sure he won't be holding back his perspective. With Len, what you see is what you get. His honesty and realistic commentary help rank him high up on the list.
2 Carrie Ann Inaba
Carrie Ann Inaba is a former pop star who rose to fame in Japan, releasing three hit pop songs back in the eighties. She also worked as an infamous fly girl for the show In Living Color (during the pre-J-Lo days.) Carrie Ann has also worked with the likes of music icons like Madonna.
It is safe to say she knows a thing or two about dancing. Inaba is a talent, to be sure. She sits at the judge's table on Dancing with the Stars and works on the shows The Talk and Big Brother.
1 Bruno Tonioli
Italian choreographer Bruno Tonioli is a staple part of the series and has been sitting on the judge's panel for many seasons. He is always colorful and engaging and is a true gift to the world of dance.
Bruno knows a good routine when he sees one and has contributed to performances for Paul McCartney, Tina Turner, and the Rolling Stones, and Elton John. Some of those stellar performances bring out Bruno's emotions, which is when fans love him most.
