Roman Reigns Says WrestleMania Match With The Rock Is "The Obvious Next Step"
Roman Reigns continues to add fuel to the flames surrounding a potential match between him and The Rock at a future WrestleMania.
There are always dream matches in wrestling, some of which can happen and others that cannot. For years, many fans' ultimate dream match was The Undertaker versus Sting. Now that The Deadman appears to be done for good, the hope of that dream match ever happening appears to be officially over. Next up on the dream match agenda is Roman Reigns versus The Rock, and that titanic battle seems to be very much on the cards.
Paul Heyman has already claimed The Great One has been in touch about a potential match-up. Now The Big Dog has discussed whether that match could and should happen with Ariel Helwani. Not only does Reigns think a match against his movie star cousin should happen, but he also seems to think the eventual showdown is inevitable, labeling it "the obvious next step" in his career.

"Imagine me with another couple of years with this dominance, going against The Great One in Hollywood," Reigns told Helwani. When WWE officially revealed WrestleMania 37 will take place in Tampa in front of fans, it also revealed the dates and locations of the next two events. WrestleMania will return to Dallas in 2022, and then air live from Hollywood the year after that.
Even though the family angle tied to Reigns since his return pointed to a showdown with The Rock at this year's WrestleMania, the way the world has changed may have prevented that. Then again, it's possible WWE has known about its plans to go to Hollywood for a while and it has always had that dream match pegged for the show's main event.
The Rock will be 50 by that point, but you only have to take one look at the man's movie schedule to know he is still in terrific shape, and almost definitely will be two years from now. Even though The People's Champ previously claimed he has retired from in-ring competition, he has also hinted he would be open to one more match against Reigns. As has been proved by his matches against Hulk Hogan and John Cena, it simply isn't an earth-shattering cross-generational dream match unless The Rock is involved.
