[Rumor] John Cena Will Always Be A Phone Call Away From Working A WWE Match
It's been suggested that WWE icon John Cena will always be a phone call away from returning to the ring, despite having hinted at retirement during WrestleMania 36.
The superstar's Firefly Fun House match saw him thoroughly beaten by Bray Wyatt, both physically and psychologically. And, amid all of the talk claiming his last fight is already behind him, Sportskeeda's Tom Colohue reckons the veteran will always be willing to come back to put someone over whenever he is called upon.

Colohue also claimed that there were no plans for Cena to be at WrestleMania until January, when he lobbied to put a current superstar over, with Bray being the choice.
"We should be reading that into it because that's what he wants us to read into it but this is not John Cena's technical retirement match," he said on the DropKick DiSKussions podcast.
"John Cena will only ever be as retired from the WWE as The Rock is retired from the WWE. At any time, he may get a phone call saying, 'Can you come back and out this person over?', and he'll absolutely do that. He lobbied to get involved at WrestleMania, he wasn't down for a match even as early as January they didn't have anything planned for him but he wanted to come in and put someone over and they ended up working this out.
"Cena at this point is not technically retired but this is just another example of him trying to put over someone a little bit more."
Cena's Basically Said As Much
Cena had previously outlined his position with WWE,
“I hope they (fans) always view me as a member of the WWE, because I am," he said during an interview in early January. "Whether it’s watching the events or being able to participate, any chance I’m given to answer this question, WWE is my family. It’s weird that the culture is, you either do this or you do that, and for 20 years I’ve been trying to tell people, ‘No, it’s all really cool.’”
We have to go with the above suggestion here. Full retirement just doesn't seem like it will ever be an option for Cena.
