Sammy Guevara And Tay Conti Win Mixed Tag Team Gold At Triplemania
AEW continued treating the TNT Title like a hot potato on Dynamite this week. Scorpio Sky defeated Sammy Guevara in a brutal ladder match, and with that, fans are likely hoping the championship remains with just one person for an extended period of time. Guevara only had to mope around for three days without a title over his shoulder though, as at Triplemania, he won a different championship.
Mixed Tag Team Champions
He and his other half Tay Conti are now the AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions. The AEW couple beat three other teams, including the now-former champions Arez and Chik Tormenta, though Guevara actually had very little to do with the match. The former TNT Champion claimed to be too injured from his ladder match on Wednesday to compete, having Parka Negra take his place.

Despite not technically being a part of the match, Guevara got involved during the closing stages, even hitting actual competitors with his crutch on his way to picking up the win. He and Conti were crowned the new champions, but no mention of what that means for Negra. Fans have presumably been left to fill in the gaps and assume that was the plan all along, and that Guevara had spoken to his replacement before the match.
Readymade Match In AEW
AEW and AAA has had a working relationship for a while now. Kenny Omega appeared on AEW TV with the Mega Championship during his Belt Collector phase, and FTR are the current AAA Tag Team Champions. There's a very strong chance Guevara and Conti bring their new belts with them to AEW, potentially as soon as next week's edition of Dynamite.
In fact, the building blocks for the first defense of their newly won Mixed Tag Team Titles already seem to be in place. A tag team match between the champs and the team of Paige VanZant and either Scorpio Sky or Ethan Page has already been agreed upon by all parties. Odds are that match will now have titles on the line when it happens.
