Sasha Banks Talks With WWE Being Held Up By A "Money Situation"

It seems a number of WWE fans were expecting Sasha Banks to make her WWE return at Survivor Series last weekend. With Becky Lynch filling the final slot in the women's WarGames match, that didn't happen. In an attempt to voice their displeasure at The Boss not returning when WWE went through her hometown, fans chanted for her during the SmackDown Women's Title match between Shotzi and Ronda Rousey.

A Money Situation

The chants didn't last for long, reportedly because WWE muted crowd mics shortly after they started. Not a promising sign for those chanting her name who are clearly hopeful Banks is nearing a return. As for the latest regarding talks between the two parties, it's still believed that a disagreement when it comes to money is what's holding things up.

That's according to Dave Meltzer who discusses the situation during a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio (H/T to WrestlingNews.co for the transcription). “They're in contract talks. The last I heard it was a money situation and that was a long time ago so I don't know where it stands right now,” Meltzer said.

Sending The Wrong Message

A money issue being the sticking point between Banks and WWE certainly makes sense. Banks walked out alongside Naomi back in May, handing the Women's Tag Titles over as the two of them left. WWE will obviously be keen to get the two of them back, especially since it seems they're still under contract. However, it might be exactly that and Banks' inability to get more money upon her return that is making her reluctant to come back.

Paying Banks a lot more if she comes back might also not be the message WWE wants to send to the rest of the locker room. Whatever it is The Boss and Naomi are upset about, if Banks signs a new contract for more money, it might lead to others doing the same. Having walked out right before an episode of Raw, making titles vacant in the process, it gave WWE quite the headache for a long time.
