Seth Rollins Becomes United States Champion On Monday Night Raw

Despite being one of the most consistent performers in the WWE for the last few years, Seth Rollins recently found himself in a years-long championship drought. Before tonight, the last time he held a title was in 2020 when he was Raw Tag Team Champion alongside his former disciple, Buddy Murphy.

Seth Rollins has had a few title opportunities since then; at 2022's Royal Rumble event, he challenged Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship. He and Kevin Owens have also had opportunities to become Raw Tag Team Champions, but unfortunately, that never came to fruition for the pair. Tonight Seth Rollins ended his streak of bad luck and became a singles champion for the first time since 2019.

Coming into tonight's episode of Raw, Seth Rollins was at a severe disadvantage; this past Saturday he faced Riddle in a fight pit match at Extreme Rules. He had his midsection covered in tape, suggesting that Seth was still feeling the after-effects of the bout. Bobby Lashley, on the other hand, was not on the Extreme Rules card and was consequently in much better shape.

However, a great equalizer came to the ring in the form of Brock Lesnar. The Beast attacked Bobby Lashley for reasons still unknown, incapacitating the champion. Referees were set to call off the fight but Rollins effectively baited Lashley into going ahead with the match. Lashley didn't last for very long; Seth Rollins hit the champion with a curb stomp and became the new United States Champion.

It's not clear what's next for the Visionary; Bobby Lashley has his sights set on revenge against Brock Lesnar, leaving Seth without a clear first opponent. Fans will have to stay tuned and see how Seth handles his newest championship reign.
