Sheamus Admits Frustrations Over Losing 43 Matches To Roman Reigns In 6 Months
There's hardly any shame in losing a wrestling match to the Big Dog Roman Reigns. But it gets old after a while and, when you lose 43 times in six months, you'll be forgiven for feeling a little peeved.
Such was Sheamus's fate a few years ago. The three-time WWE champion was involved in a storyline featuring Reigns that ran from November 2015 to January 2016. It saw him join forces with Alberto Del Rio, Rusev and Wade Barrett as the League of Nations to prevent the Big Dog from winning the WWE Title.

The League of Nations had the advantage in the early going but Reigns took wins against various members of the group, many of them coming in matches against Sheamus.
Speaking on the newest episode of The Bump, the Celtic Warrior admitted that it was a frustrating period for him.
“There's been a lot of ups and a lot of downs in this business for me," he said (h/t Wrestling Inc. "The first time I ever felt like I was stuck in a rut was when I was in The League of Nations. We had this group that was created together, and to me, this group was set up to make Roman Reigns a babyface. But, it was a dead-end for us. From the moment we got together, which was a last-minute thing, it was frustrating to me [on all four men losing to Reigns]. I hit a roadblock.”
The Irishman won the WWE Title for 22 days after cashing in his Money In The Bank contract at 2015's Survivor Series but Reigns won 43 of their 48 bouts between November 2015 and May 2016, which included live events.
One of the best came when Reigns regained the belt by taking Vince McMahon out before pinning Sheamus.
Taking It On The Chin
For someone of Sheamus' status, especially a few years ago, it would have always been tough having to lose that many matches to put someone over as a face.
But such sacrifices are considered part of the business and, while it may or may not have taken some shine off Sheamus, it's something WWE felt needed to be done.
