Shinsuke Nakamura Fires Back At Fan Who Claimed He's Happy In WWE
Shinsuke Nakamura has hit back at fans who continue to claim he is happy to surf and work a safer style in return for a spot in WWE's mid-card.
There was a lot of hype surrounding Shinsuke Nakamura when he signed to NXT. The King of Strong Style's very first match on the black and gold brand demonstrated exactly why. A hard-hitting match with Sami Zayn. Almost five years later, that might still be the best match Nakamura has wrestled under the WWE umbrella, and therein lies the problem.
Fans who have seen Nakamura wrestle in Japan have accused the former NXT Champion of becoming a watered-down version of himself since moving to the US. This has led to an assumption that since Nakamura gets to live in Florida and surf while collecting a WWE paycheque, he is happy to wrestle a different style and just bide his time in the mid-card.

A response to a fan saying exactly that on Instagram has prompted Nakamura to question where exactly this belief came from. "He's happy. He gets to surf and work a safer style," was a fan's response to someone else telling Nakamura he is being wasted in WWE. The SmackDown Superstar saw the comments and replied, "who said I'm happy? Don't believe anything other than what I said."
It's not as if it has been all bad for Nakamura on the main roster. He has been Intercontinental Champion, held the US Title, and even won the men's Royal Rumble match in 2018. It also felt like his run was on the cusp of being reignited last month when he ran the gauntlet, almost earning himself a Universal Title shot before he was screwed out of the win by Roman Reigns.
Now Nakamura is the third wheel in an angle between Apollo and Big E. It's understandable that he would be upset right about now after coming so close to getting a main event match against Reigns, who is arguably the biggest star in the company today. The sudden drop off from that to where he is now must be a frustrating one to deal with. Easy life or not, if he isn't happy with his lot in WWE, we could well see Nakamura pop up elsewhere soon.
