The Flash's Cisco Ramon Actor Reveals Why He's Not Returning For Series Finale

Arrowverse actor Carlos Valdes, who plays Cisco Ramon on The Flash, reveals his reasons for not returning in the series finale of The CW drama.

The Flash star Carlos Valdes, who plays Cisco Ramon, opens up on why he is not coming back for the series finale of the Arrowverse drama. After running for nearly a decade, The Flash TV show is coming to an end this week on The CW. The final batch of episodes has been setting up Barry Allen's final threat as he and Team Flash aim to save the world one last time. But with The Flash series finale airing in a few days, there has been a lot of anticipation for potential returning characters from the show's past.

After responding earlier this year to a potential appearance in The Flash season 9, Valdes has revealed that he is, in fact, not coming back for the series finale. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Arrowverse veteran confirmed that due to schedule conflicts, there was no way for him to come back as Cisco one last time. For Valdes, it was heartbreaking not to get to return to The Flash and work with his co-star, sharing the following:

I did consider it. Honestly, there was no way to make it happen with regards to my schedule and just all the different creative ventures and life circumstances that I was trying to juggle at that time. I couldn't really make it work, which was really heartbreaking to me because I thought, if I decided to step away from the show, at the very least I have to be there for the finale to round this thing out and to really honor the full circle-ness of it. It was really heartbreaking to not be able to make it work.

Which Characters Are Returning For The Flash Series Finale?

While Cisco is sadly not back for The Flash's series finale, several fan favorites are returning for the show's last episode. Jessica Parker Kennedy, who reprised the role of XS in last week's episode, will make her final appearance in The Flash's concluding episode. After appearing as Henry Allen a few weeks ago, John Wesley Shipp is set to guest star in this week's episode, playing Jay Garrick, a.k.a. the Golden Age Flash.

But while there will be several returning heroes, some beloved The Flash villains are also making a comeback. As Eddie Thawne has risen as Cobalt Blue, he will be working together with some iconic speedster foes in The Flash series finale. Both Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanagh's version), Godspeed, Zoom, and Savitar will be taking part in the final showdown in the Arrowverse series.

As disappointing as it is not to get to see Cisco in The Flash series finale, sometimes these things happen where schedules will simply not line up. At the end of the day, Cisco's legacy won't be forgotten, as he will always be one of the show's most beloved characters. Hopefully, as The Flash comes to an end this week, it will be a satisfactory conclusion to the Arrowverse series.
