The Untold Truth Of Barbara Bush
After Barbara Pierce Bush went on a blind date with now-hubby, screenwriter Craig Coyne, in 2017, she didn't think she'd hear from him ever again. Bush recounted her love story with People and revealed that their mutual friends set them up. Though Bush, a New York resident, was busy promoting her new book "Sisters First" with sister Jenna Bush Hager, she took the opportunity to meet Coyne while in Atlanta for an event. Coyne, who lived in Los Angeles, was in town visiting family.
"I invited him to meet us at the hotel where we were staying for drinks," Barbara told the outlet. However, there was a catch. She continued, saying, "But what he didn't realize was that it was gonna be me, my sister, [publicist] Jimmy Franco, the book — and two other friends of ours."
The blind date turned into a group affair, and Bush's sister Jenna invited Coyne to a book event, where she put him on the spot as her sister's blind date. "I thought it was hilarious, but I said to Jenna in the car, I was like, 'I'm never going to hear from him again, but regardless, that's a fun story to tell,'" she told the mag. They met again weeks later — minus the group — and the rest is history.
