Toni Storm Pins Charlotte Flair On SmackDown

The Queen has been rocked by a Storm!

Toni Storm got a shocking pinfall victory over the SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair in the opening match of the most recent edition of SmackDown on Fox in which she teamed with Sasha Banks to take on the team of Charlotte and Shotzi.

It all went down in Chicago's Allstate Arena on Friday, December 17. In a rare move, WWE decided to open the show with a match instead of a promo segment, and the crowd responded positively. The match itself was thoroughly enjoyable and the fans were really into it. It goes without saying, but the chemistry between Charlotte and Sasha is off the charts. The two women worked their magic and made their respective partners look good by association. But as good as Sasha and Charlotte were, it was Toni's night.

The finish came when Flair went for a Moonsault on Storm but missed and landed on her feet. Flair then went for a standing Moonsault but Toni got her knees up and blocked the attack, knocking the wind out of The Queen's sails in the process. Storm then rolled Flair up for the 1-2-3 which elicited a big pop from the Chicago crowd. After the bell, Toni celebrated with Sasha while the commentators talked up her achievement.

Storm signed with WWE in 2018 and won the Mae Young Classic in 2018 at the WWE Evolution pay-per-view. She previously performed on the NXT UK brand where she held the NXT UK Women's Championship. Outside of WWE, she was the first-ever Progress Women's Champion among many other impressive accolades.

The Aussie Superstar's arrival on the blue brand was announced on the July 9 edition on SmackDown, which also featured the main roster of debuts of two of her former NXT colleagues, Shotzi Blackheart and Tegan Nox. Toni kicked her main roster career off with a victory over Zelina Vega on the July 23 edition of Friday Night SmackDown.
