Tony Khan Comments On AEW's New List Of Banned Moves
Despite both being wrestling promotions, AEW appeals to a different crowd than WWE. While WWE presents a more PG, watered-down version of the pro wrestling of old, AEW boasts a more hardcore program. Blood is a very common sight on AEW television, as are dangerous stunts and high-risk maneuvers.

It's also a steady source of discourse wherein fans share gifs and videos of botched and/or dangerous moves in an attempt to slander the company. Now, it seems that AEW is tightening the reigns on their performers in the name of health and safety.
Tony Khan Says Banned Moves "Aren't Crazy Changes"
A few days ago, Fightful Select reported that AEW had created a new list of banned moves for talent. The list includes:
- Unprotected chair shots to the head
- Shots to the back of the head
- Selling a move by faking a seizure
- Bleeding in the crowd
- Taking food or drinks from the crowd
- Physical contact with the crowd
- Throwing bloodied objects into the crowd.
Tony Khan recently appeared on the Dan Le Batard Show With Stugotz where he was asked about this new list of banned moves. Fightful has provided the following transcription of his response:
Yes, I want to have a great pro wrestling company, a hard-hitting pro wrestling company. Those aren't really crazy changes. It's nothing that's going to change the show. It's really more guidelines for the referees than anything else, and it's good stuff for the wrestlers to know.
I normally stay away from sharing my opinions in news stories, however, I have a strong theory regarding this list. I believe this is all a big bluff, another "worked shoot" from the geniuses of AEW Creative. In my opinion, this list was only created so that when MJF inevitably harasses another child, marks online can go crazy about how MJF "is breaking the rules." Who knows, maybe Bryan Danielson will try to scare fans yet again by faking another seizure in the ring!AEW has flown very close to the sun in regard to performer safety. We can only hope no one gets burned.
