Troubling Update When It Comes To Bryan Danielson's Injury
While Bryan Danielson didn't reveal the details or extent of his injury that would keep him out of Forbidden Door and Blood and Guts next week, there is news surfacing that the reason he wasn't forthcoming with why he wasn't medically cleared is that AEW and Danielson don't want it out there that he might be suffering from something incredibly serious, at least as far as Danielson is concerned.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer newsletter, Dave Meltzer notes that Danielson's injuries haven't been confirmed, but it is believed he suffered a concussion during the chaotic Anarchy In The Arena Match at Double or Nothing. If true, this is not good news for Danielson who has a history of concussions and, for a while, forced him into retirement. It's bad enough that anyone would sustain a concussion, but for Danielson, another one could really hamper his ability to wrestle anymore.
Meltzer says that AEW took the WWE approach when referencing Danielson's injury and chose not to offer details on a brain-related injury. WWE tends not to give much information when absences involved concussions or COVID, because both shed a worrisome light on the industry and safety measures involved in performing as professional wrestlers. In Danielson's case, this especially makes sense as he has a history of head injuries.
AEW is going to keep a very close eye on his progress and if he's not passing concussion protocol in around a month's time, it could be serious.

Hopefully, This Isn't Serious
The hope is that this isn't a concussion and that if it is, it's mild. Danielson is stubborn with this kind of thing and you could see it on Dynamite when he promised he would be back and his injury wasn't anything that would keep him away from the ring. Danielson was upset with WWE for some time because they wouldn't medically clear him. He eventually showed he'd improved to the point where it wasn't a concern. Let's hope AEW doesn't rush him back or let him compete before he's ready.
