WarGames & 9 Other Match Types We Might See Under Triple H On WWE’s Main Roster
WWE is already seeing some big changes now that Vince McMahon is no longer in charge, with Triple H sensationally taking the reins as Head of Creative. With returning names and a keener focus on in-ring action, there is a different atmosphere now surrounding WWE programming, as a sense of excitement has returned.

There are some match types which either haven’t been seen before or haven’t been present for a long time under the reign of McMahon, but with someone else now in charge, there is a big chance that some new or returning match types could make an appearance in WWE.
10 WarGames
The WarGames gimmick made its debut in NXT a few years back, with it going down as a huge success, with the Undisputed Era becoming NXT’s version of the Four Horsemen, making the match their own.
With Triple H now in charge of the main roster, it truly is just a matter of time before WarGames is introduced. It was one of the more successful WCW concepts that Vince McMahon didn’t choose to inherit once he bought the company. Triple H is clearly a fan of the match though, and seeing it on the main roster would be a sight to behold.
9 First Blood
Seeing blood on WWE programming has been very much a rarity due to the PG rating the company has had for over a decade. However, with it seeming as though WWE may be making a very slow move to TV-14, more blood could well be on it way.
One of the more unique matches involving blood, is a First Blood match, in which a competitor wins by making their opponent bleed. It was used often during the Attitude Era, with it being a match which screams of urgency, with violence guaranteed, making it a fun match.
8 Blue Steel Cage
Triple H is a sucker for old school wrestling, and there isn’t much that is more old school from a WWE perspective than the blue Steel Cage. In more recent years, the Steel Cage has been a gray/silver structure, with it being the color of the steel which surrounds the ring.
However, it is a gimmick match which has truly lost its importance throughout time, with it being very rare for fans to be excited about a Steel Cage match. Bringing back the old blue coloring could be a small detail which gives it some life.
7 Unsanctioned
Unsanctioned Matches often come around when two men can’t settle their animosity in a basic match, and don’t want to be held accountable for what happens to one another. With the complete lack of long-term storytelling in WWE, there has been zero need for an Unsanctioned Match.

However, with Triple H likely taking a keener eye when it comes to long-term rivalries, bringing back Unsanctioned Matches when it is necessary will likely happen – just as it did for Johnny Gargano vs Tommaso Ciampa in NXT.
6 Fight Pit
One of NXT’s original gimmick matches is the Fight Pit, which sees the ring ropes replaced with a cage, with the only way to win being by a knockout or a submission.
This has only happened twice in NXT thus far, but there is a big chance that it makes a comeback sooner rather or later, with it being a successful experiment. It is notably similar to the old ‘Lion’s Den’ match.
5 Stretcher
Aside from an Ambulance Match, WWE have veered away from the ‘put an opponent on or in something’ to end a match types. With Triple H wrestling in an era where these were very common, there is a big chance that some of these make a comeback.
One of the more entertaining versions was a Stretcher Match, where an opponent would have to incapacitated to the point where they could be put onto a stretcher and rolled over a line at the end of the stage. It provided an interesting dynamic and would be a nice change of pace to the generic no disqualification variations that WWE currently uses.
4 Three Stages Of Hell
There has only been five Three Stages of Hell matches throughout WWE history, with Triple H competing in the first three, making this gimmick one his specialties in a sense. This is essentially a 2-out-of-3 Falls bout, but with a different stipulation for each fall.
This allows a lot of creativity, utilizing different tools throughout an epic encounter by two huge rivals whose differences can’t be settled in just one fall.
3 Career Threatening
In recent times, when a competitor is set to leave the company, whether it be due to getting released or their contract ending, they leave without much of a goodbye, often being dropped from storylines at the flick of a switch.
In NXT, this has been a little different, with the likes of Adam Cole and Johnny Gargano getting proper send-offs. Writing a wrestler off in a Career Threatening or Loser Leaves Town match is a great way to capitalize on someone leaving, and Triple H may be more inclined to do this. Over the years, the likes of Chris Jericho, Jeff Hardy, and Mick Foley have lost these matches, giving their opponents a huge boost when beating them and ending their run with the company.
2 Original Color For Hell In A Cell
There has to be very few people who like the ugly, gaudy, and eye-sore that is the red Hell in a Cell. Introduced due to it being on the Raw brand for a PPV a few years back, WWE have kept it this color. However, it takes away some of the seriousness of the gimmick, making it less intimidating and more ‘fun’.

Triple H will very likely revert to the original, more natural steel color of the structure going forwards, which will bring about an air of intensity and danger that the gimmick so desperately needs.
1 Dog Collar
The Dog Collar Match is quite a rare stipulation, but it is usually a guarantee for something highly physical and hard-hitting. Aside from a recent NXT UK match between Eddie Dennis and Wild Boar, WWE haven’t explored this gimmick.
As previously mentioned, Triple H is a fan old-school wrestling, so utilizing this gimmick isn’t outside the realm of possibility.
