When The Last Two Episodes Release
In the final stretch of its current run, Young Sheldon season 5 takes a final mini-break and when it returns, it will release its last two episodes.
With only two episodes left, Young Sheldon season 5 is taking a final mini-hiatus. The Big Bang Theory spin-off is on the final stretch of its current year, with 20 episodes released. However, just as it started wrapping up its season 5 plotlines, Young Sheldon is going on another brief break.
The last few weeks have been hectic for Sheldon (Iain Armitage) and his family. After dealing with the re-emergence of Paige (McKenna Grace) in Young Sheldon, the Coopers are currently tackling Georgie's (Montana Jordan) situation after he accidentally got his girlfriend pregnant. Now that everyone in the household knows about it, there's interest as to how things pan out for the clan, especially since Mandy (Emily Osment) refuses to get married to Georgie just because they're expecting a baby.
For the first time in three years, Young Sheldon will complete its typical 22-episode season run. When the coronavirus pandemic began in early 2020, the CBS comedy, much like most network shows, was forced to shut down production and end their seasons early. That left The Big Bang Theory spin-off's season 3 and season 4 with only 21 and 18 episodes, respectively. As the global pandemic wanes, however, Young Sheldon is able to get back to its usual episode count. Unfortunately, viewers will have to wait a while to learn what’s next for the Coopers in Young Sheldon.
Why Is Young Sheldon Season 5 Taking Another Break?
Ever since Young Sheldon season 5 returned from its mandatory winter break, it has taken several more mini-breaks, with most of them were to pave the way for sporting events like the Winter Olympics and NCAA March Madness. It took another hiatus just before and after Young Sheldon's 100th episode. Now, it's taking another week off. There's no official reason for this, as CBS is simply airing reruns in lieu of the new outings, but the chances are that it may have something to do with the so-called sweeps period that usually takes place between April and May. Ratings collected during this time are used by advertisers and stations to decide on the advertising rates for the rest of the year. With that, it makes sense for CBS to stretch out Young Sheldon's run this year, considering its popularity.
Young Sheldon Season 5 Final Two Episodes Release Dates
As previously mentioned, Young Sheldon season 5 only has two episodes left. With the show's final mini-break lasting for just a week, its penultimate episode titled "White Trash, Holy Rollers and Punching People" will be released on May 12. The next week, on May 19, Young Sheldon season 5 finale will be rolled out; the episode is titled "A Clogged Pore, a Little Spanish and the Future." CBS has yet to officially release a trailer confirming this schedule, but Young Sheldon's latest social media marketing post confirms that the series will indeed be back on air next week.
Young Sheldon's Season 5, Episode 21 & 22 Story Details
As Young Sheldon season 5 wraps up, its final two episodes will focus on year-long plotlines in an effort to resolve them. According to the official brief for "White Trash, Holy Rollers and Punching People," Georgie's situation will be the talk of the town. This will prompt Missy (Raegan Revord) to stand up for her brother. Amidst all of this, Sheldon, on the other hand, will try to cope with the family drama, but it won't be easy. Meanwhile, the synopsis for "A Clogged Pore, a Little Spanish and the Future" will see Mary (Zoe Perry) and George (Lance Barber) on the hunt for new jobs. Elsewhere, Sheldon will be dealing with the first signs of puberty while Meemaw (Annie Potts) will take a business trip across the border. Aside from these, co-creator Steven Molaro has also confirmed that George and Mary’s Young Sheldon cheating scandal will be revisited at the end of the year.
