Where to Find (& Catch) Lingcod in Stardew Valley

To catch Lingcod in Stardew Valley, players should have a recommended Fishing Level of 3 and must fish in specific areas during the Winter Season.

Lingcod is a Fish in Stardew Valley that can be found in the River running through Pelican Town or Cindersap Forest during the Winter Season. It can also spawn in the Mountain Lake north of town. Weather is not a factor in how often the Lingcod appears, as it can spawn during both snowy and sunny weather. Lingcod is stated to have a Difficulty rating in Stardew Valley of 85, which is identical to the Legendary Angler and 15 points lower than the Glacierfish. Therefore, players should be ready for a struggle if it bites their hook.

Stardew Valley farmers can use Lingcod in two specific NPC-given quests. The first is "Catch a Lingcod" from Willy, which will reward players with 550g and a Friendship Heart upon completion. Keep in mind that the Fish can be a Lingcod caught before accepting Willy's request. Another quest is "Aquatic Overpopulation" from Demetrius, tasking players with catching a specific number of Fish depending on the Season. Accordingly, if players accept this task from the Special Orders Board during wintertime, it is possible they will need to catch 10 Lingcod to fulfill the request. Farmers will be compensated with Gold and Farm Computer Recipe upon quest completion.

Lingcod are able to spawn in any location along the River or Mountain Lake in Stardew Valley. Therefore, it is tricky to pinpoint any single or multiple spots that could be considered the "best place" for catching Lingcod. However, considering that the Angler requires a Fishing Level of 3 to capture, players should consider attaining Level 3 or higher before attempting to get a Lingcod. A few choice locations that would be optimal for "fish-grinding" for Lingcod would be the stone bridge leading to the town library, the wooden plank bridge near JojaMart, or any spot on the River or lake where a pool of bubbles has appeared.

Catching Lingcod In Stardew Valley

If Stardew Valley anglers are still unable to find the elusive Lingcod, they can purchase the Fish from Krobus for 200g on Wednesdays or at the Traveling Cart for 360 to 1,000g. Players can access Krobus' home in the Sewers once they've received the Rusty Key from Gunther. This event occurs after 60 items have been donated to the Pelican Town Museum. The Traveling Cart appears in Cindersap Forest on Fridays and Sundays, near the entrance to the Farm.

Finally, Lingcod can also be caught regardless of the current Season using Magic Bait in Stardew Valley. Magic Bait can be purchased from Qi's Walnut Room for 5 Qi Gems, or its Recipe can be acquired for 20 Qi Gems.
