Which Marvel Character Do You Look Like? How To Use TikTok's Shapeshifting Filter
TikTok's Shapeshifting filter is not new, but the effect is now proving to be a popular way to see which Marvel character people look like.
TikTok’s Shapeshifting filter is not new, but it is currently a popular way to find out which Marvel character people look like. TikTok has become an increasingly frequent location for trends to develop and, once again, filters and effects are proving to be the driving force behind these recent viral videos. Here’s how to find out whether you look more like Captain America or Groot.
The Shapeshifting filter first surfaced on TikTok in September of last year, although it was somewhat limited in terms of regional availability. Since then, it has become more widely available, including in the United States, opening up the door to more users, and more creative ways for the effect to be used. For example, the Shapeshifting filter is not only being used to find out which Marvel lookalike someone is, but also which Harry Potter or Disney character, and even which celebrity someone looks like.
One of the easiest ways to gain access to the Shapeshifting filter is to save it from an existing video. Simply search for a video using the effect, tap on the filter name, and then save it to your favorites. Alternatively, open TikTok, tap the “+” button, and then on the Effects icon when the camera interface launches. The Shapeshifting filter can then be found and accessed under the Trending tab (highlighted in the image below). Examples of how the effect is currently and widely being used can be seen by searching for #shapeshifting on TikTok.
How To Discover Your Marvel Lookalike
Once the Shapeshifting filter has been located and either saved or is ready to use, it needs to be paired with an image of someone else, whether real or fictional. To specifically take part in the Marvel trend, the TikTok user will need to find and download a Marvel chart or grid image showing the faces of all of the characters, with searching Google Images a popular option for this. Once ready, the user will need to open the app, tap the "+" button to launch the camera, enable the Shapeshifting effect (as described above), tap the small "+" sign that appears above the effects bar, select the Marvel grid image, and then hit the record button with their face in view. The effect will then take over and after a few seconds will morph into one of the Marvel characters from the grid.
Again, while the instructions here are primarily for Marvel characters, the Shapeshifting filter is currently being used in multiple different ways. Any TikTok user can morph into just about any fictional character or real life person they want, the only difference is the image they are using. Whether it’s a Marvel, Disney or Harry Potter video the TikTok user wants to upload, just apply the Shapeshifting filter, open the image from the device’s gallery, and hit the record button.
