Why Big Brother Canada 10 Is An All-Time Great Season

Nearing its finale, Big Brother Canada 10 has cemented itself as an iconic season of the show thanks to its stellar cast and unforgettable moments.

Stephanie Shocked Face BBCAN10 Blindside

As Big Brother Canada 10 approaches its much-anticipated finale, it's clear that BBCAN10 is already a legendary season of the show. With North American Big Brother fans coming off of the frustrating and disappointing Celebrity Big Brother 3, the premiere of Big Brother Canada's tenth outing was seen as a welcome palate cleanser from many hardcore fans. CBB3, which aired earlier in 2022, was criticized for the behavior of second-place finisher Todrick Hall, as well as for the predictable nature of eventual winner Miesha Tate's path to victory, so many fans were looking forward to a change of pace with BBCAN10.

Big Brother Canada has built a reputation over the years as one of the most well-produced and best-cast reality competition shows, especially among those with a strategic game component. Beginning in 2013, the show has followed the American version's format fairly closely, but it has formed its own identity through its unique twists and through the contributions of its enthusiastic host and executive producer, Arisa Cox. Arisa is a beloved host and an active member of the reality TV community, often interacting with fans and appearing on reality TV podcasts to talk about shows like Big Brother and Survivor.

Big Brother Canada 10 has more than lived up to its promise as a post-CBB3 palate cleanser. The season, now only a few episodes away from its finale, is destined to go down as one of the most entertaining and memorable seasons of Big Brother Canada. In keeping with BBCAN's reputation for putting together stellar casts, every player on season 10 has provided entertainment along the way. Even players who left the game early made a mark on the season, and the houseguests who have made deep runs have all left strong impressions as they've navigated through the hectic Big Brother game. Thanks to the cast's dynamic personalities and unique gameplay, season 10 has featured several shocking moments that are sure to become pillars of the show's storied lore.

These moments include Kyle Moore's infamously disastrous Head of Household reign and the subsequent blindside of Stephanie Paterson, as well as the up-and-down feud/friendship between Marty Frenette and Gino Giannopolous. This rocky relationship eventually led to Gino being evicted after Marty forced their alliance to draw gummy bears, with the person drawing the sole red gummy being nominated as an intended pawn. The plan backfired, sending Gino out the door in what will forever be known as "gummy gate" to BBCAN fans. Additionally, the strategic mastery of Kevin Jacobs has garnered comparisons to legendary American Big Brother greats like Dr. Will Kirby, Dan Gheesling, and Derrick Levasseur, while his secret "Ghosts" alliance with Haleena Gill is sure to be remembered among other classic duos like Big Brother 3's Jason Guy and Danielle Reyes and BBCAN2's Neda Kalantar and Jon Pardy.

All in all, Big Brother Canada 10 has been a near-perfect season of the long-running show. Few Big Brother seasons have delivered such a consistently compelling game with a truly dynamic cast. Part of the season's success has been the fluidity of alliances between players, as many of the more mediocre and subpar BB seasons have featured a large alliance decimating outliers in a predictable march to the finish. Big Brother Canada 10 has featured the complete opposite dynamic, and after its eagerly awaited finale concludes, will be undoubtedly remembered as a classic.
