Why Braun Strowman Was The Right Choice To Win The Greatest Royal Rumble
Perhaps no WWE Superstar is on a roll like the "Monster Among Men", Braun Strowman. After winning the 50-men Greatest Royal Rumble match on Friday, April 27, 2018, in Saudi Arabia, Strowman proved that he's the man to beat in WWE going forward. He's now the holder of a shiny new trophy and a Royal Rumble Championship that was revealed before the event and more than his physical prizes, mentally, he's been handpicked as a go-to guy and must be satisfied to know WWE has huge things planned for him.
The question some will be asking is whether or not Strowman was the right choice to win this match. After all, Daniel Bryan was the fan favorite and had the best odds per the betting sites heading into Friday's event. And though Bryan didn't win, he lasted longer than any other competitor in Royal Rumble history, coming up just short after being eliminated by his current adversary Big Cass.
It might have been WWE's only wise booking decision of the day and in the end, it's logical to conclude that Strowman was the right choice. Here are a few reasons why.
He's Currently The Man In WWE
There's a saying that goes, to be the man, you have to beat the man. If 49 other men can't beat you, you're definitely "the man", or in this case "the Monster Among Men." Some may argue Brock Lesnar is "the draw" or Roman Reigns is pegged to be the "chosen one" but Strowman is "the man" right now in WWE and there's really no denying it. He's an unstoppable force who is extremely popular with the WWE fanbase and no matter what he does, he seems to get over. Vince McMahon has taken a special liking to him and is working hands-on with him as he grows into becoming a huge megastar. For Vince, this is an investment he's making and the boss' plan is to make Strowman one of, if not the, face of WWE.
The WWE Universe simply shouldn't downplay what that means going forward. If there's a big moment in WWE, expect Strowman to be part of it. If a match like this ever exists again, expect Strowman to be a favorite to win. Vince is loving the fact that he's handpicked this young behemoth and the fans aren't rebelling.

He Was A Logical Battle Royal Winner
As unbelievably great as Daniel Bryan's performance was on Friday, the odds of someone drawing No. 1, at his size, and who has been out of the game so long meant he shouldn't have had the best odds to win. It especially wouldn't have made a ton of sense to have him go over someone like Strowman if the two were to meet face-to-face and one is near twice the size of the other and all the monster has to do is throw the little guy over the ropes to win.
Bryan didn't necessarily need this win either. He's a huge star, he's going to be popular regardless of the outcome and he was given props for lasting as long as he did. By the tale of the tape, Strowman just made the most sense in a Battle Royal-type situation. He's also not won one before (assuming you don't count the tag team one on Raw a couple months back).

He's Not Getting A Title Anytime Soon
While WWE put the tag straps around his waist at WrestleMania 34, it was with a 10-year-old child and he kept them for one day. This may be the closest he gets to a belt for a while since he's not the kind of WWE Superstar who needs a championship to stay relevant.
Winning the Greatest Royal Rumble is a cool way to put him over, give him a potentially meaningless belt but not really make him a champion, all while keeping him the monster WWE wants fans to realize he is.
Strowman is too hot not to get a big win like this. He's been putting guys over while climbing his way to the top and it's time WWE recognizes him by giving him some of the biggest wins available to a WWE Superstar.
