Why Fans Think Heather Gay Was A Flop On Season 2
Fans haven't been happy with Heather Gay's input on Lisa and Meredith's tension during the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 2 reunion.
Overall, many fans don't think that Heather Gay's stint on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 2 lived up to the hype she established during her initial season. Heather got the attention of fashion and pop music icon Rihanna, who slid into Heather's DMs to show her some affection. After rebuilding her life and identity following her divorce from her husband and Mormonism, Heather started her Real Housewives journey on a fresh note. She was a breakout star from RHOSLC season 1 for her candid commentary and authentic personality.
In turn, RHOSLC season 2 hasn't been quite as big a success for Heather. Her storyline primarily focused on her daughter's college journey and her ongoing efforts to reconcile her alienation from the Mormon faith. She reunited with her estranged sister to discuss her father's passing and threw her father a memorial that wasn't attended by those still practicing Mormonism in her family. Many grew bored of all Heather's Mormon talk, though her devastation was very real. Understandably, being a "bad Mormon" is still new to Heather. Alas, it isn't the juiciest content for Real Housewives viewers. Without any personal drama to unveil, fans seemed to take issue with Heather adding her two cents on other people's drama, especially at the reunion.
Lisa Barlow and Meredith Marks spent part 2 of the RHOSLC season 2 reunion rehashing their broken friendship. After Meredith's father died, she was upset that Lisa didn't support her. Heather jumped in with a similar story saying that Lisa sent her a text hoping Heather's father was doing better days after he had passed. When it came to Lisa's RHOSLC hot mic moment where she accused Meredith of sleeping with half of New York. Amid a flurry of other insults, Heather jumped in, asking, "Are you sorry you said it, or are you sorry you got caught?" While it looked like Heather was a voice of reason, many weren't happy with her. A viewer tweeted out, "Heather Gay's loud a** mouth during the #RHOSLC reunion. Like can you let a b***h speak!?"
I’ve loved Heather Gay all season but at the reunion she was different. Whitney wedges herself into every problem and drags Heather in there too. #RHOSLC

Another fan tweeted, "Heather Gay is the biggest Bravo flop to date. She had so much potential to be a fan favorite and has fumbled the ball multiple times. #RHOSLC." Heather certainly isn't perfect with one of her bigger blunders, calling Jennie Nguyen an anime character as a compliment. However, the problematic remark fell to the back burner amid Jennie's anti-Black Lives Matter social media posts and Mary Cosby's problematic references to Jen Shah as a Mexican thug. The cousins are known as "bad weather" for stirring up trouble, with a fan noting on Twitter, "I've loved Heather Gay all season but at the reunion she was different. Whitney wedges herself into every problem and drags Heather in there too. #RHOSLC."
The broader issue seems to be that fans didn't remember electing Heather as the morality police. While Rihanna, producers, and season 1 fans thought Heather earned her place at the center of the snowflake pack, season 2 fans didn't agree. In time Heather may learn that fans might be more willing to back up her points of view after a more compelling season. For instance, discussing Heather's resurfaced DUI should provide some conflict for the show. Heather will certainly return for The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 3 with brand-new narratives and opinions, whether fans like it or not.
