WWE NXT & AEW Dynamite Ratings Reach Extremely Low Numbers This Week
Both AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT saw quite the drop in ratings last week, but things were even worse this Wednesday for obvious reasons.
Game 7 of the World Series between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros predictably captured a large portion of the national TV audience on Wednesday. With that, both Dynamite and NXT took it on the chin from a rating standpoint.
Per WrestlingInc.com's Raj Giri, Dynamite only drew in 759,000 viwers, while NXT fell all the way down to 580,000. This marked the fifth straight week where AEW defeated NXT in the ratings, however, putting them up 5-0 through the first month of the "Wednesday Night Wars."
Game 7, a 6-2 victory for the Nationals, brought in a whopping 23 million viewers.
Despite winning the Wednesday battle was still a major drop for Dynamite. They hit 963,000 viewers last week, which marked the first time where the show failed to reach a million, while NXT only had 698,00. Of course, Game 2 of the World Series was taking place that day.

With no more competition from the MLB postseason, things will be a lot easier for NXT and AEW going forward. Ther was always little chance that either show was going to produce excellent ratings with the World Series on.
This week, WWE announced a one-hour replay special of last week's NXT episode, which would be aired before Wednesday's regular program. This was likely a ploy to try and help NXT's ratings for the week, but that obviously didn't end up working out as hoped. Now, Triple H and co. will have to try and find a new way to catch up to Dynamite in the one-sided battle thus far.
NXT Is Trying, But Nothing Has Worked
NXT ran an episode with limited commercials, which did nothing to help them defeat Dynamite. They introduced the one-hour special ahead of Wednesday's new episode, but that got them nowhere close to the numbers AEW posted. Finn Balor's heel turn didn't do wonders for NXT, either. Absolutely nothing has worked yet, and it's anybody's guess what NXT will try next as they to catch up.
